I really can't describe the difference. It is slightly healthier for you and just tastes great.

Greek yogurt is thicker and more tart than the regular kind. Yes its better, but also has more calories. I can't get myself to try chobani, in another language 'cho' means 'stink'

greek yogurt does not have more calories than regular, they are about the same.....and just like regular yogurt, you can get fat-free, and thus get a 6oz. serving for about 100cals, 0 fat and 18 grams protein. THAT's the big difference between regular and greek; greek has about TWICE the protein of regular.

i LOVE chobani's plain non-fat greek yogurt to which i add my own fresh blueberries (WAY better than eating the flavored variety imo, reg or greek, both have way too much sugar then) and i eat it about 3x a week for breakfast.

Yep - this is my favorite too! Mixed up with berries. Sometimes I cut up an apple and warm it in the microwave with cinnamon and mix that in. So good.

They are frequently on sale for $1 at the Super Fresh around the corner from my house. Although when I was growing up $1 was pretty fucking expensive for yogurt. These things do blow away the Dannons and the like tastewise though.

    Other good yogurts:

Wallaby, this Australian style yogurt you can get at Whole Foods (usually one type is on sale), is awesome. Even the nonfat tastes good. :o

In Phila. area Pequea Farms is awesome, but a little expensive and fatty (if that bothers you). I buy a lemon yogurt and some berries and it's the best work breakfast you can get.

I eat the fage 0% for breakfast just about every single day. My favorite combinations are:

    - blueberries/strawberries
    - gala apples chopped up really small, microwaved with cinnamon and then mixed with the yogurt--sometimes with a little granola(its like apple pie, but better) someone else mentioned this--it is the BEST.
    - oatmeal
    - strawberry fruit spread mixed in

its also really good to use in place of sour cream in recipes (I've used it in enchiladas and to top off turkey chili before).
One of my favorite lunches is cut up veggies with a dip made of 0% fage, curry powder, honey, and chopped up green onion. its the best!!

The kind I buy has 18 grams of protien and is 100 calories VS say, dannon light and fit (which is what i used to eat years ago) which is 80 calories and 5 grams of protien. So, Fage "sticks" with you and keeps you full longer...especailly if you pair it with some fiber. and theres non of that added sweetener stuff.
    Makes much more sense...

2012: Berlin, Germany 1& 2; Stockholm Sweden; Oslo Norway; Copenhagen Denmark
2013: Wrigley Field- Chicago, IL; Philadelphia, PA 1 & 2; Hartford, CT; Vancouver BC; Seattle, WA.
2014: Cincinnati, OH; St. Louis, MO; Moline, IL; Milwaukee, WI
    2016: Wrigley Field- Chicago 1&2
  • If the price of Greek style yogurt bothers you do this....

    1. Buy some good organic American style yogurt.

    2. place on cheese cloth over a bowl.

    3. Wait a few hours.

    Bingo...Greek style yogurt !

    * I say "style" because it wouldn't be from Greece...it would be from your fridge....

yep, exactly the same as the chobani. i don't think you can go wrong with any of the brands of greek yogurt.
around here the chobani is almost always on sale for 4 for $5. it is a bit pricier than the regular dannons and the like, but way cheaper than that icelandic yogurt siggis....which is like $2.50  ...and i'm sorry, i tried it once and found it absolutely disgusting. :?

and i NEVER use sour cream anymore either! always swap in the greek yogurt, you can't even tell...so fat-free AND awesome protein, win-win!

i'm beginning to figure why my jeans were not fitting today...

This is just ONE of the things I ate yesterday:

Try demolishing a HALF of a 500g container of Vanilla Greek Yogurt....so that's 250 grams right there. Throw in a couple of handful of almonds, and walnuts,...finish it off with pure maple syrup.

This was a BIG ass bowl of yogurt and nuts.

    Which CAN be healthy...

Thing is, what I thought initially was non fat yogurt, turned out to be a full 10% fat Vanilla Greek Yogurt. Like CREAM! Oh but it is so good...just in yogurt alone there I had 25 grams of fat!!

    Forget about the nuts!

Ok, I will be needing new pants.
