So I'm guessing I should just get the DVD then? But if it helps anyone once I hit purchase I'm sure that more blu-rays will become available. Worst part is I just got paid for a freelance gig and that money was set aside for the bluray, oh well. Guess I should have been more persistent about getting paid.Uniondale - Apr 30, 2003 Camden - Jul 06, 2003 Holmdel - Jul 14, 2003 Boston - Sep 28, 2004 Montreal - Sep 15, 2005 Philly - Oct 03, 2005 East Rutherford Jun 03, 2006 MSG - Jun 24-25 2008 Philly Oct 27-31, 2009 Newark - May 18, 2010 MSG - May 20-21, 2010

Damn, I was going to buy the bluray yesterday, but something else came up then I forgot... today been trying to hit F5 for hours. Now got worried that the DVD will sell out too, so I ordered that instead. I guess I'll get the single disc retail bluray in addition to this.225xxx - 6/28/00, 10/20/01, 10/22/01, 9/11/06, 9/22/06, 9/23/06, 6/18/07, 6/26/07, 8/15/09, 6/25/10, 6/30/10, 7/4/12, 7/5/12, 7/7/12, 7/10/12, 6/26/14, 6/28/14, 7/3/18, 7/5/180

Absolutely stupid. Didn't pre-order because of the (possibly illegal) policy of charging when ordered rather than when shipped. I have a wife on maternity leave, just spent $100s of dollars on other Pearl Jam product including the show I just attended and planned on ordering it on the next credit card cycle.
I guess this is Pearl Jam's way of stimulating the economy so all these flippers can feed their families.1993-08-12 - Edmonton, AB, Convention Centre

Having been an inventory/purchasing manager, from a business standpoint, you have to think about your stock as "money sitting on the shelf" If you can't move the merch, you are losing money the longer it sits there. Trying to estimate how much stock will move, and how fast, is difficult, it's almost an 'art'.
Remember the Golden Rule at Costco? "If you don't buy it now, it probably won't be here the next time you come in"The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

SO now Pearl jam is being compared to Costco in terms of business practices.

I would much rather drop $70-$80 on a few great live shows then the Blu Ray. I am sure it is cool, but I would probably watch it once and then it would collect dust.
I am just going to DVR PJ20 when they air it on PBS never delete it.PJ:

Here's a compromise
10c, please release the bluray version of these discs ONLY. Not the extra packaging, not the extras that come with it (book, etc...)
All I want are the 3 blurays. Hopefully, you can offer this at a much reduced price.
Press a button, and make it happen. That way those of us who were on the fence due to the price can still buy and it doesn't cost you a ton in terms of manufacturing.
The BluRays are very much in demand. Please make it happen. My 22 shows:

Bought the DVD 3-pack. But I guess i will cancel that ordet and just pick up the Bluray from Amazon and dowload the extra (will that one even be available in Europe from itunes?) from a torrent or itunes.
I thought I would hate myself for not buying the 3disc BD "when I had the chance" but honestly I don't really care. But, I would have miuch rather bought a single-disc copy of the The Kids Are twenty than the documentary which I don't think I'll watch many times.
But also, regarding the fact that you could have bought it for a month or whatever. The product details came out alot later and also LIMITED EDITION on DVDs/BDs hasn't meant shit since forever. So many people I guess thaught it was the same bullshit to try to sell it as used on all other DVDs/Bds on the market.
But yeah. Too bad they can't have items available atleast for so long so you can get a grasp of what kind of wtuff they put on the discs and if it'w worthy of 70dollars. Different with a backpack or a white vinyl - you get what it is and what it costs. I think the BD was a differen thing and even though it's not 10C's fault they do suck in one way or another when it omes to information from them to us (as usual)"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -

no. but i think it's pretty obvious that the 10c is a business. why get stuck with $10,000 of inventory on your shevles that you cannot move, just to make an extra $1000/$2000 in sales?
would you run your business like that?0 -
PNuttyJam wrote:Those are extremely broad assumptions to make on something that you have no specific knowledge of actual cost. Who said they're just going to just re-coup investment costs? I'm talking specifically about the Deluxe Edition. Typically companies make limited edition goods because there's a limited audience for the product (rather obvious in this instance - it's all about us). It's simple risk management. The cost of getting stuck with thousands of unsold units far outweighs the risk of selling every last copy and missing out on potential sales.
It's Out Of Stock, not Sold Out. I really think that's Santos' way of saying, "Hey Fuckers! If you're on the fence, now would be a really good time to step up and buy this because they're almost gone!"
But I have no choice but to make extremely broad assumptions here... It's not like 10C is going to actually tell me what the markup is... The $1/disc I think is fairly accurate (if not conservative), and I have some experience with logistics from the far east, and if they're paying more than $5/unit they really getting ripped off. Depending on how many you can pack into a container, I would think it should actually be much less than that.
But anyway, I still don't understand how you can mis-estimate your demand that much that you actually sell out of all your stock before the item is actually released. That is poor planning. Remember the good ol' days when pre-orders were actually used to help gauge the demand so that a company could figure out how much they needed to make? In my eyes, that's the point of pre-orders .... not what has been done here... which is simply selling off all your stock before it even shows up. That is ridiculous...
Either way, 10C has saved me $70 through their poor planning. Besides, I know atleast 1 person who gets this package will rip the blu-rays to some high quality files and post them on a torrent website somewhere so that I can just download all 3 files free of charge... after I watch all 3 discs then I'll gauge if I want to buy the 2nd disc (cause concert disc's have a great replay factor for me... the other's not so much)... so all's well.Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.0 -

Can you imagine if Pink floyd re-released the wall with a special directors cut and only made 5,000 copies. hahahahahahahahaha This is an absolute joke to have this as a limited edition and 2nd to not have it in stores.
