Songs That Make You Lose It

  • I can think of two songs that make me tear up every time I hear them, without fail:

    1. Avenged Sevenfold - So Far Away
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7ry4cx6HfY&ob=av2e

This song was dedicated to The Rev, their drummer who died in December of 2009. The video is just heartbreaking to watch - a lot of footage of Jimmy...and reenactments of the band members' childhood together (most of the band members grew up together and were childhood friends). This song and this video are a guaranteed tear-jerker - even if you don't know the band, all you have to do is watch the video and listen to the lyrics and you get it: they loved this guy and miss him terribly.

    2. Bruce Springsteen - Gypsy Biker
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EpSSO9Q ... re=related

This song is basically 'sung' by one brother to his brother who died in in the most recent round of wars (Springsteen, of course, was and is very anti-war). Rockin' song, but like with any Springsteen song, it's all about the lyrics, which tell a heartbreaking story of the living brother telling his dead brother about what happened in the aftermath of his death. GAH.

Bob Dylan's "Girl From The North Country"
It was one of my dad's favorites
I was excited to see it was going to on "Water on the Road"
but, the original is just way to dear to me and it is the only song that I do not like the way Eddie does it.. I wish he would have left that one alone..

Love Dylan's version. The finger picking is terrific in that song.

  • Pearl Jam+ Social Distortion, dear God, please make this happen again!!

  • Jeff Buckley really was a beautiful soul, and he sang (and even looked) like an angel. That guy was just too good for this earth.

i was introduced to this song for the first time not very long ago...kills me too, now, more than ever

I hear you. This song reminds me of a simpler time. I could hear it on repeat and be okay with it. It's the summation of the best years of my life.

There are so many, but this is the first one that comes to mind. From the first time I heard it. It is my favorite Neil song.
