Facebook Timeline...

Now they are going too far.
I heard everyone's web activities will be posted up on their profiles for all to see in the next couple of weeks.

Every website you have visited will be automatically posted to your profile or wall for all to see.
well facebook. we had a nice run.
thanks for the heads up.
sweet avatar.
back to work.
that's not what it says at all. you still have to "allow" a site to share, but once you "allow" a website. such as your herald sun you are always linking to here, it will automatically share it on your facebook page. and it is only for website and apps that already have a facebook share or "like" button on them. i know at the end of many news articles and sites it has the little thumb icon for you to "like" then it will ask you to log into facebook if you are not already, and it will share a link to that article to your page. it's not on every website out there anyway. there is no thumb icon anywhere on this forum so it was posts links from here to your facebook.
any way, i've been thinking of "unplugging" anyway. it's been ages since i have made any real status updates. i mainly use facebook now to keep up with people i don't see regularly. i may just have to not be as lazy and pick up a phone or send an email, or heaven forbid keep Australia Post in business and write an actually fucking letter.

Only if ...
... the site you visit has a sharing app with FB
... you enable the app
... your settings are such that you enable the posting of this type navigation to your FB timeline
At least, that's how I read it.

Thanks. It's really not clear to me.
FB logon via internet explorer...I open NOTHING else in that internet browser...I surf and come here via Firefox.
any windows that are closed are set up to delete all history and cookies upon exit.

I heard otherwise, I heard all your web history will be posted on your profile automatically for all to see as Facebook installs cookies/spyware on your browser. So if you don't delete the Facebook cookies/spyware and then surf news sites, porn sites, message boards etc Facebook collects that data and stores it.
So Facebook all along has been collecting info on what you have browsed online and will now add it to your timeline.
They had a segment on the morning Today show here last week, the IT guru they have on the show suggests all of us use one web browser for Facebook and another for all your other activities, i.e Internet Explorer for Facebook and Firefox for News, Message boards etc
everytime facebook introduced something new there is mass hysteria that they are selling our photos to companies to us, or stealing our info or doing this and that. but even the articles you posted say that the site has to have a share app with facebook and you have to allow it like what old mate said above.
everytime facebook does something new everyone gets their shit all worked up about this or that, but i week later they have all forgotten what the old layout even looked like and continue on with their lives.
I sure as hell do not want it, I just want Facebook simple as it was/is.
I use it to keep in touch with family overseas, don't want it for anything else.
and the web history thing, i believe it's only things you're "liked" or clicked "thumbs up" on right?
I think all FB profiles will have the Timeline 12/31/11.
Another article to help understand Timeline.

i would laugh and love it if 13,000,919 people all closed their accounts on facebook and threw their systems into the drink right................now. go.
i enjoy being online as much as the next youtube/pearl jam addict but this is getting ridiculous w/ all the info spying and sharing. if someone is not computer savy they are in for a rude awakening
