I'll add another question : how do I get back the music that's trapped on my minidiscs, now that my Minidisc player is (apparently) dead :-( ? Back then, Minidiscs were cool : you could cram so much on just one tiny disc ....

You'll have to hit up as many musicians as you can and hope one of them gives you a one to transfers the tunes off of the discs. I've literally 100's of concerts and soundchecks still on MD that I have to get off them before my player totally dies. I'll get there one day!

You can pick up MD players fairly cheap on eBay... I still have a portable MD recorder/player which I use and a MD component in my seperates system. Good for keeping preview copies of CDs I borrow from the library!

I loved minidiscs as well and my player is still alive :D And I also never bought originals, I made my own mixes. Maybe I should hunt down some of those awesome looking PJ minidiscs

Yeah, I thought of trying to 'resuscitate' it one more time to transfer what's trapped on my MD's (CD's I 'borrowed' from Virgin ten or so years ago when I was broke  ) onto my computer or else I'd have to get one from Ebay (it's still very expensive to get a new one and that would seem pretty pointless).

But I went to an awesome record store two days ago and finally found and bought all the MDs I really missed on second-hand CDs. Took me three hours to find them all, but I was sooo glad to play them again ! I knew I missed them, I hadn't realized I missed them that much :D. It's only fair I bought them eventually I guess and now they're safe in my Ipod. *relieved*

Back on topic :the OP's MDs make for a nice 'vintage' collection !

  • I still rock my MD, literally, every day as my portable music player. I even have a component at home and an in dash deck in my car. Perfect for vinyl transfers and concert recording!
