so if im really digging a print and want it on my wall in a nice frame...is it worth the extra cash for an A/P? how often do the colors of an A/P beat out the colors of a 1st edition? are they darker, brighter ect...?

what are some other pros and cons? obviously if its signed chances are its not a fake...right?

is a really low number print going to be nicer than a first edition printed way down the line?

any thoughts?

that being said...i have a LOTL vinyl and $200 cash for a A/P dusseldorf.

Should not be a difference other than signature between A/P and 1st printing. Sometimes there are changes due to the color of ink running out (Vic and 2005 AC).

If you going to keep it on your wall and not going to sell it, save the cash and buy a non-A/P version.

In my opinion, If you are going to hang it, and go through the expense of doing so, it is a much cooler item, especially if you LOVE it, if it is signed by the artist.
  • yeah i was kinda thinking along those lines...the signature makes it kinda nice especially if its on a wall and framed properly. but i wanted to hear what others had to say...

brad's sig isnt super tiny is it?

I LOVE THIS PLACE...IM TOTALLY A PIT ADDICT NOW!

If your going to pay to frame it, might as well pay and get the art with the signature.

If you want some cheap frame (Ikea) go with the cheap poster.

Question should be "How much am I going to spend?"

AP's are nice but look no different.

They certainly add value, but that shouldnt matter if you are a collector, as when one I've been after enters my house, it'll never leave so the value remains unimportant.

However if all you can find is a first edition, go for it, its still great to have the art

and some say the lower numbers are worth more, but man more will argue thats bollocks, so dont get conned. Someone once mentioned that numbers 1-10 are reserved and given away to the band and people close too. The artist used to keep 11-20 for himself and for use at shows and sale at shows, the rest for fair game....that game from the big man in the sky

You gotta go with the AP! They come straight off the printer and haven't been around the world before picking it up. They are also signed and numbered by the artist and that itself is really nice and makes them harder to fake.

AP's just feel better:) I love em!

Many artists don't sell the low numbers, which is why they are 'higher collectables'. These low numbers can be reserved for as you say friends, badn members and so on, but also galleries and charities.

Brad is one of these. He keeps 1-10 for himself. What happens to those, no one knows......

I guess the only one who knows is Brad, many possible reasons. I know Brad keeps 1-10 cause I sent him a number request some time ago and he told me 1-10 are not for the public.

i bought this one through ebeans...and i love it.

its #8, the guy i bought it from said he bought it off somebody else on ebay, and he doesnt know how he got such a low number. when i told him about the 1-10 being for friends theory he guessed that the guy he bought it from musta known Brad.

anyways...i went with the A/P and im gald i did...its colors are brilliant, plus i just saw a 1st edition go for only $20 buck less than what i paid! SCORE!

thanks for all the opinions...A/P is for me!

AP is for me too! The signature and number adds alot to the posters, even if they are hard to see sometimes.

Glad to have you on board!

Ok I am one of the dumb ones on here...please tell me how do I know what kind of a poster I have? I bought most off of tenlcub or shows....none of which are numbered or anything...so what does that mean?

Also, I got a couple from people on ebay...how do I know about those either?? Is there a marking or something?

I have the Boston whale...but its more of a dark pruple than the bright purple...can that show what kind it is??

    Thanks for any help!!

All the people here who are into posters have asked that question at least once, so dont worry. You are not stupid.

The posters that are printed for the shows are called 1st editions. These are (in the pearl jam world) not signed or numbered and are sold at the show. If you have bought something through 10c, then you have 1st editions as those are left overs from the tour.

If your poster is signed and numbered, that means they are 'artist proofs' (AP's). AP's are the prints the artists themselves sell and are usually 10% of the total run of 1editions. So if this years virginia beach poster was 2000 copies, the AP would normally be 200. Those 200 are a seperate edition from the first, making 2200 copies of this poster in circulation. I am not sure if the pj artists live by this 10% rule though... If you wanna know I suggest sending them a mail, or maybe nr. 7 can give us a better answer if he sees this. Would be interesting to know!

    Hope this helped ya!

I greatly prefer the A/P's just knowing that the artist's hands were on it. I just bought an '03 St. Paul Ames A/P2 for $41 on eBay. Ames is still selling it for $350. I am guessing because most people don't like this poster. It is uglier than shit, but it makes me laugh since my wife's family is from MN.

Question: Are all the posters that are for sale through artillery A/P, or are they just left over 1st editions? If they are 1st editions, how does one get Klausen A/P?

    Thanks
