Simple Minds! in a few weeks. Never seen them before, will be fun.
Seriously? They're still touring? I saw Simple Minds in Vancouver in about 1985. A good show, but the real surprise was the opener Shriekback, who were excellent.
my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf

I saw a few shows on that Simple Minds/Shriekback tour, it was excellent! One of the lead Shriekback guys was in Gang of Four, and is now touring as Gang of Four but with all new other band members. Just in case you were also a GoF fan too...
I didn't know Simple Minds was touring either. Lots of love for 80s bands these days, that's for sure!

This reminds me of my first big Festival at the Motorring Hockenheim Open Air in Germany where Simple Minds (left stage) was the last act before Tina Turner was headliner on right stage. We were 2 row right in front of left stage. It was all good until the last song. There were just a little bit (haha) too many people who pushed us to the middle of the right stage. Then one guy inadvertently knocked me out lol... so as I woke up I saw a big security guy over me who pulled me over the ceeling upon the stage. They thought I was shocked as I refused to left the stage without my boyfriend lol (I think I was 17) so they pulled him out of the crowed. I just stood two steps away from Tina Turner and thought at least I should shake hands with her! She stood behind the black curtain as the manager told the crowd that she would not come on stage before they all go 5 steps back and stop pushing!!! lol Then they carry me down at the side of the stage on a stretcher (I swear) directly into the lazarett tent ! As they asked for my particulars I refused again bc all I could think of was my parents - they would never let me go to any concerts again !!! lol
Well I googled it ....100.000 people...no barriers like today...my first big festival weekend... I read TT wasn´t great that Saturday night...but Simple Minds were great! Coolest weekend that year...
Thank you to remind me of that great experience 24 years later...
I hope you will have a lot of fun...and I´m sure the crowd will be much more civilized haha
Yes, I'm surprised too that they are still touring after all these years. In fact, they were here last year too but I missed out on them then,, but this time... I'm so hoping to hear some of my favourites. And I really liked Shriekback back in the day.
And kce8, you're welcome. Don't know about civilized , but the crowd will be a lot smaller.
