Just picked one up after randomly walking into the Apple store here in Buffalo and checking in.
Definitely takes the sting off of missing out on the vinyl last night. To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

I'm fucking stoked to get one!
As a long time collector of PJ vinyl, here are my two cents on the flipping matter... I don't collect things to sell them. But, if I score a super-rare record, why wouldn't I enjoy the fact that it's worth a lot? Sure, I agree that we, as huge fans of the greatest American rock band ever, should have a shot at owning whatever memorabilia we want to buy, but wouldn't that take a lot of the fun out of collecting? I've spent a few bucks on ebay over the years, but that's just the nature of the collecting game, right? I don't necessarily assume most people on here are buying them to flip. I think most folks on here are like me when it comes to this stuff, and I'll never sell my collection. In fact, I might just get buried with my unopened Benny Hall!0 -

It takes balls to come out and say that and have that mind set. Fair play Kev. As a collector you know that you win some and you lose some. Its part of the game."Life comes from within your heart and desire"0 -
One way to stop the flippers is to make the buyers hesitate to lay down big bucks in fear of the item becoming available again.

This is the correct attitude. I respect you for it.
Collecting is a "game". The thrill of the hunt is often the best part of it. I'd say that 99.9% of us still have something out there that we are chasing after. If you happen to have something in your collection that you're willing to part with to get that other item you go either trade what you have for it or sell what you have to raise the money to be able to buy it.
I not only collect Pearl Jam items but also tour golf equipment and on a small scale, Porsche automobiles. I've purchased a few Porsches for my collection and to use/enjoy. Then my taste changes and I sell those to be able to afford the next one that I want. Sometimes the cars I buy appreciate...sometimes they depreciate. It's part of the game.
My philosophy on collecting.... Buy what you like...not what you expect to appreciate in value. That way you'll never be disappointed.

At any rate I think a large chunk of fans who were interested in owning one of these likely nabbed one for $25 plus shipping over the last 15 hours, there's gonna be those who missed out, creating some secondary market demand, but I think it won't be crazy. This weekend we rock Portland0 -
