If it is truly sold out/out of stock, they should remove it from the Goods section like they did with the backpack to save everyone from continuing to check with hopes that one becomes available. Maybe they aren't going to remove it until all orders are 100% processed? I guess its possible someone's order gets cancelled and one becomes available again?
that's why I decided to check this morning. I figured out of stock is not the same as sold out. I had a feeling they'd be fair about it this time around and stagger the sale of an item so everyone everywhere had a chance to see it. Got myself one by doing this.

I think 5000 is still a high estimate of the number pressed, but the point remains....Why would they just sit on these for so long?
My guess would be somewhere in the middle(maybe 3000 or so), unless quite a few people bought huge batches. Enough for plenty of people to get them, but not enough to totally kill the collectibility.
My guess on the "500 to 5000" range is to try to negate the secondary market... 5000 is a decent amount, if people think the run is on the high side, they're less likely to flip... I dunno... just guessing as to why an exact number hasn't been listed.
Glaciers melting in the dead of night and the superstars sucked into the supermassive.
Do people actually think these things are worth more than $25 now?? People are mainly buying them now cause they think they have a $$$ value... Trust me when I say MOST people arent buying them because they love Backspacer... I feel for those who paid bigtime bucks for these when they were "rare". I was almost one of those people up until this past week.
I didn't. I bought it cause I dig white vinyl. I'm going to tear it open the minute it arrives.

99% of you folks will buy this hoping to one day sell it for a profit...
You know it....
I know it...
We all know it.....
Just like the posters...
Just like the backpack.....
And a pleasure to see you my friend.....
i think speedy is probably right.
I mean i think a high proportion were bought to trade or sell (based on Benny logic)...
its just the way it is.
As a collector im obsessive about these things, but i would agree the majority look at it very differently.
I only picked up 2 of these yesterday. One is for me to play (since I never bought Backspacer for some reason) and the other is either to trade or sell for face value to someone who missed out. I just can't bring myself to flip stuff...just don't think it's cool to do to other fans even if it means making money.

Oh yeah, it's definitely trying to put a damper on the flippers' fun. 5000 would absolutely destroy the secondary market, imo.
Ah ok, still, hope nobody gets the copy that sat closest to the heating pipe in the warehouse for the past 2 years.
2 years? It's not the same as the ones that were sold for 2 years. Those were black Vinyl.
If these are original pressing they have been sitting for two years as well... they've been here and there since the release, so while I know its a joke to get the one nearest to the heating vent... both versions were likely pressed about the same time.

Out of curiosity just searched the 'bay for completed listings. 2 were sold today for £450 each from a UK seller  - the buyers will be disappointed if the seller just bought them from 10c.
By the time they take 2+ months to get to the UK from 10c then the seller to send them on I think a PayPal investigation will have been launched
You are assuming the whites and blacks were pressed at the same time. Do we have confirmation on that?
I find that hard to believe, especially when not 1 has surfaced anywhere in 2 years.
I could very well be wrong but I'm sure their warehouse is climate controlled.
The white vinyl has been circulating for 2 years. Yesterday Santos posted that these white vinyl being sold were the original pressings. Hence, they were sitting around for 2 years.
Wasn't able to get one. If another member would be so kind as to sell me their extra I would apprecaite it. I like the white vinyl idea and yes I will open it and play it. I'm a vinyl junkie.

Great. This is what I miss for not checking the boards for about 20 hours. Missed the on sale and sold out! D'oh! Don't suppose anyone accidently ordered an extra on accident, huh? :P

The truth about the white vinyl is Stone found them in his basement when he was looking for stuff during the making of Pearl Jam 20.

That was a great scene in the movie.
I know everyone is throwing out guesses on the quantities, but it's doubtful they pressed 5000 white vinyl. 1500 or much less.

like maybe Benny wasn't actually limited to just 2000, right?
