I don't know how they go and do 3 points for a regulation win but stupidly go back to regular season NHL and only give 2 points, the same as an OT win. Just unbelievably dumb.

Its terrible and has been a point of annoyance with me for years.

If this were NHL-style, there would be a 3-way tie with 4 points, and Finland would have 2 points.

Having games weigh more in the standings than others makes me crazy.
I'm a little confused on the argument.  Are you criticizing the the single point for an OT loss in regular season vs the old style of no points in a loss?  What is your point of annoyance?

If a game goes to OT they award 3 points, vs. only 2 if it doesn't go to OT. Why would this ever happen? If you win in regulation you should get 3 points.

You mean in the current NHL structure?  I like this format personally.  I would always be frustrated in teh old format when you play well but walk away with nothing in OT, and that is particularly the case in the non-customary format of 3x3 and a shootout.  I also really like the 3x3.  My guess is that if you mapped out a season in the NHL using only 2 pts available vs 3 in OT, the standings are closer in this current format, meaning more important games in the late season, which is good for the sport.  I am sure there are lots of models that have done this, and I'm sure the NHL has done it.  I never looked but one would think the standings are tighter.

Yes, this.  One game where a team earns a regulation win, only 2 points are awarded.  Two Teams playing the same night, who cant resolve their game and go to OT or a SO, get awarded with an extra point, and winning in regulation is worth the same as 3 on 3 or shootout gimmick win.

Also, if you look at the NHL standings at any point in time, the last 10 for most teams are versions of 4-4-2, 5-4-1, 3-4-3, 6-4-1 etc.  Everything is so muddled and everyone is kind of close to .500.

It also makes it near impossible to make up ground, especially if there are multiple teams to pass.

In my opinion, a team far back would really go for it to bank regulation wins and the full 3 points.  Especially vs teams they are trying to pass.

To be clear, im in support of the 3-2-1-0 points system.  All games weighted 3 points.

You can’t alienate 49% off voting Americans if you run a business, even if they are morons.

let's be honest. besides obama, how many presidents knew anything about any sport but golf?

the GM of USA Hockey wouldn't want it to come out that they didn't welcome him. that would cause an uproar. They have financials and sponsorships to think about.

I like Canada tonight.  Crosby always comes up big in these games.  Figure multiple assists for Sidney.  I say Canada 3-2

Yeah I was surprised by that as well.

How about McCavoy potentially gone for the season. That doesn’t happen in an all star game. If Boston had a chance for the playoffs, it’s looking dim now.

And apparently the injury happened in game 1 vs Finland, yet he played like a runaway freight train vs. Canada. Kind of stupid and the B's will suffer because of it.

I heard he could have a Staph Infection and it could be potentially serious.  Haven't heard that since like yesterday so not sure how true that is.

He indeed has an infection (haven't heard "Staph" specifically) and is in Mass General Hospital receiving IV antibiotics.
Also what the team has deemed a "Significant" AC joint injury.
