Buffalo got chosen for the 2017-2018 WJC. Very pumped.

The New Year's Eve Canada/US game will be played outdoors at Ralph Wilson Stadium in front of 50,000 Canadians and 20,000 Americans.

Then the Sabres will probably play in the 10th Anniversary of the original Winter Classic the following day.

    Sick

Hasnt really been much going on, really.

    Dallas is exciting
Calgary, Edmonton, and Anaheim are disappointing
    McDavid got hurt
Montreal win streak to start season
3 on 3 overtime is awesome. Just need to scrap the shootout
    Not much fighting
Eichel and Domi look solid as rookies
    Patrick Kane point streak

The sick goaltending has to run out and they will take their rightful place as Austin Matthews frontrunners.

That was the Sabres' problem last season. The worse the skaters got, their goaltenders would post like .925 save %.

Agree, went to an OT game and it was awesome in person.

Its going to be groundbreaking. With the Harborcenter arena/hotel connected to the First Niagara Center, the entire tournament will be under one roof. The hotel is adjoined there along with the huge sports bar, etc. There is outdoor skating right there now. An outdoor game with 70K fans... and we have an owner who will front money to make it awesome not totally concerned with losing $.

and being close to Canadians help as that's who's gonna buy the majority of tickets ...
  • Johansen for Jones. Can't believe the Preds traded away Seth Jones. Crazy trade.
  • I like the Kings move and I like the Jackets/Preds deal....although it will be fun to see how that one works out because it is for 2 potential top level stars.

I would love for the Hawks to win the Cup again this year, but sweeping the Pens is a nice consolation. Not seeing much light blue at work today!

  • Just when you think the NHL can't get any dumber, they suspend Toews and Ovechkin for missing the completely pointless all star game due to illness/injury. So dumb.
  • Kings stumble into break, went to bed after the first period last night and everything looked great. Woke up to a Loss. Shit.
Watched the Caps/Flyers last night too and Ovi looked fine.
(Also think it is silly suspend guys who need the rest.)

  • Can't believe the balls on someone from the NHL to ask Scott if this is something his children would be proud of. This league doesn't have a fucking clue....

anyone believe this guy didn't hit the ref on purpose? i mean he leaps to hit him. good to use concussion as an excuse though.

Hell yes he meant to do it. I'm thinking at least 10 game suspension.

edit: minimum suspension is 20 games for deliberately attempting to injure an official

I watched it a few times. Appears he's pissed the refs didn't call on his collision with 20 didn't catch his name.

Lol. Yeah just watched it again. He had to have seen he was a zebra. And he just went right to the bench like nothing happened.

Anyone watch the all star game this weekend? I caught part of it at a bar I was at. The 3 on 3 and playoff round looked pretty good from what i saw and heard. And Scott won the MVP!

  • I was really looking forward to the All-Star mini-games but the John Scott drama and the stupid suspensions turned me off.
