I think it would be sweet if Pearl Jam played the Grand Stand at the State Fair. Bump

I never want to see that happen...

Now if the alternative is that PJ would never play MN again unless it was a State Fair gig, then sure...but I can't see them EVER playing the Grandstand.

The State Fair is reserved for "has-beens" trying to hold on to relevance (see Kid Rock, Toby Keith, Linkin Park) or nostalgic performances (aretha franklin, journey).

I will probably take a lot of heat for that opinion...but I just see PJ having a solid enough fan base that they will be able to play arenas until they decide to quit playing

Agree completely. I hope I never see PJ at the Grand Stand. Only acts of a certain status headline shows at Fairs, casinos... that status is "has-beens who once had some hits, but wouldn't have enough draw for their own shows."

Keep touring forever PJ. Don't play shows that my grandma would go to.

Anyone else enjoy themselves at Lee's Liquor Lounge on 8-21 while watching the Supersuckers? The Beggars were a nice surprise!

I think the Minnesota State Fair GrandStand is a little different from the Osseo county stampede

Maybe Eddie can scale some of the rides circa 1992. Imagine porch being sung from the top of a Ferris wheel. Hahaha.

with that said, photoshop suggestions are welcome. :-P

If you're playing a fair, you're playing a fair. There's a certain assumption that any band you'll see at a fair is fairly past it's prime and fairly washed up. This may not be a fair assumption for all acts, but the fair is typically an affair known for bringing former "hottest" artists of the past. I think you'd fare better at a touring artist's club/stadium show. I also think PJ has much more credibility than any act that is playing the fair - fair and square.

If you need a reason to go the fair, I'd stick with the fried foods and other fare.

i saw aretha franklin at the fair last night, which i enjoyed quite a bit. despite that, i think the fair has been pretty good about bringing in less-than-washed up acts. in the last few years they've had wiz khalifa, macklemore, the minnesota music-on-a-stick, shitty country guys like toby keith and tim mcgraw (who can still sell out stadiums)... even the list this year isn't all old fogies holding on to nostalgia. it's certainly much better in terms of quality acts than it was only 5-10 years ago.

Yea linkin park and kid rock can easily sell out an arena and they're at the fair. With that said, please don't ever play the fair, PJ.

My favorite band playing my favorite place. And why does it matter if Pearl Jam was perceived as "washed up" and played the state fair?

    Ten Club dining area!

Listening to the 6/28/14 bootleg now. Great, great show. Mike's solo on LB is about the longest I've heard on the boots (song is 5:40 long). I wish they would jam that solo outtro out to seven plus minutes - ahem, St. Paul show. :-)
