Has anyone seen the Alive tribute band? I was thinking of going to the Chanhassen show with Mad Alice and Lithium if there are some positive responses.

Z and I saw Alive a few years ago at the Fine Line.. not very good unfortunately. They didn't touch anything outside of the top singles and their energy was nothing. They didn't see to have a grasp of the ten club and how amazing they COULD be if they embraced the fan club as if they expected them to come to their show. It was a let down. The Nirvana band before them were better... and they at least held up the side of a tribute band where they actually looked and tried to act/sound like the real band. sorry for the lame news
It's hard to top the actual thing in regards to Pearl Jam. That was one of my main concerns. However, Mad Alice was good the last time I saw them, and it appears that you enjoyed Lithium. I still have over a month to think about it. Thanks for the info!

as I recall, Mad Alice was really good and Lithium was solid and loud. Alive just played to the idea that PJ only mattered 1990-1994. They cant learn "The Fixer" or "World Wide Suicide"? That's all. I've heard cover/tribute bands cover Pearl Jam better than Alive. But, if you want to hear the classics done live, then go. I'm sure youll have a blast.
i've been to a few of those 'one night only' type screenings - the batman killing joke, roger waters' 'the wall' movie, pj20 - and it's cool to see these things on the big screen/hi def/surround audio. david gilmour has one coming up for his pompeii concert i'll want to go to, and i'll definitely do let's play two if/when a local option is announced.

Let me clarify.....
I would go too. I went to PJ20. It would be fun and loud.
BUT.....
I guess I think a lot of people are jumping the gun on this based on the teaser videos of it being a full fledge film. Or something that is even meant for a movie theatre. That's all.
to piggy back off of my man Z, as we have talked and talked, There's the other side of us who also want a full out LIVE concert DVD with the full setlist rather than a film that includes a handful of the actual setlist (but if they do both, even better!). Wrigley was such a great back to back show and i want to relive the whole dang thing, especially night 2.. mmmmmmmmmm.
i, too, would much, much prefer a full show/set of shows than an 'immagine in cornice' style docufilm. but with clinch involved, i don't think that's going to be the case.

Yeah. I think so too.
I'm still holding out hope for some sort of Tenclub only release of the concert footage in its entirety

Saying its a movie isn't a real reason, but okay. Have fun!
