I'm going with my Dad and his business associates. Should be a good time all on the company dime.

And actually, I don't get that upset golfing. I know, I know. Hard to Imagine. :D

These were the major events the last time PJ played Minnesota.

I think we should all include something in the comment section about MN on PJ's facebook posts--just giving the concept some exposure.

Does anyone have the balls to contact Ron Coomer and see if he could pull some strings for Target Field?

    Riot Act

The band just sounds old and tired to me on Riot Act. Ed's lyrics and vocals don't do much for me on this one.

See that's precisely how I describe their sound on Backspacer. Ed just sounds so out of gas. Maybe it's because that's how I think they sounded on the 09 Backspacer tour too.

Riot Act has a dark brooding urgency on some of it's rockers (Ghost, 1/2 Full, Can't Keep, Get Right, Green Disease) and a lingering yet fatal optimism on some of it's underrated tracks (Thumbing My Way, All or None, Love Boat Captain). Thematically, it's really a carry-over from Binaural. It's weird how people clamor over Binaural yet hate on Riot Act. Musically, there are a lot of similarities. I just don't see that those two albums are different enough so as to justify people's love for one and supreme distaste for the other.

Now, in light of that, this album was about 5 songs too long. It feels a little "b-sidey" by the end (so does No Code and Binaural - gasp!). Had they cut it to 10 (cuts to include Arc, which I've always felt is cool as an art-piece, but boring live and musically), this album might not be as disregarded or disliked as it is in the PJ catalogue.

Totally agree with this. I get a lot of flack for not liking Binarual or at least having it at the end of my list, but it's a hard album to listen to cover to cover.

Riot Act will always hold a special place being it was the first album I anticipated coming out and skipping school to buy it. It is too long and could lose a couple numbers but if Down and Undone were added in lieu of Arc, All or None, Help Help and probably Get Right, it would be a pretty solid album cover to cover.

this might be the first time i've not had no code last. it feels weird to put backspacer below it, but backspacer just hasn't aged well with me at all. the last time i listened to it i was glad when it was over. i'm not sure i've ever felt that way about one of their albums after listening to it. i'd really like to hear more riot act/binaural live but those seem to be forgotten by the band.
