Thoughts on 'Sirens' ? It's a ballad.. and I like it! (that could be the girl in me though..)

Gotta admit, upon first listen yesterday I was NOT diggin' it. Maybe i just wasn't in the right headspace, but I was less than impressed. Just not my thang.

Listening again today... I'm kinda sorta maybe possibly liking it! Yeah, I'll go so far as to say I think it's good. It was a weird flip from my stance yesterday, but the song's alright, I think it needed to grow on me a bit. I truly believe in not forcing yourself to like something, just because it's coming from your favorite band or whatever. I mean, a turd is a turd, and people shouldn't be afraid to admit that to themselves. Sirens however is not - I think it's a solid song and I'm excited to hear the rest of the album!

I'm not saying I love it, but I tried to imagine it from a live perspective. So much of my PJ-fandom is informed by the live experience of their music. Songs that I may not love on album are fantastic live songs and sooner or later, I'm liking the song.

I just heard "Sirens" as possibly one of those songs. There's nothing fantastic about it and there's nothing terrible about it. But live? It might kill. And that's the value of this song - it's potential. I don't think there's anything on first-listen that's hate-able. True, it's not anything they've really done before, it's not experimental or edgy, but it's got potential. I like the steel strings though.

As far as what Pitchfork will say, or whether middle-aged folks will like it, who gives a shit? I think most people are comfortable enough with their tastes to not care about that shit.

Plus, who needs the radio anyway? Ready Harry?

Yeah Pitchfork is going to butcher the album in their review, as they tend to do with rock acts that are aging or not hipster-friendly. That's okay. I have such a love/hate relationship with Pitchfork. I check their news everyday, but bitch about their reviews often.

Yeah, saw it at the game Saturday. I'm a Cullen fan so that was what the 7 comment was for
Team looked really good in the first period. The other two they looked a little too familiar...not in a good way. We will see what the season holds!

After this year is PJ going to head to Australia and Europe and be done with the tour or will they play more of the country?

I wonder how much of a role Target Field will play in MN concerts next summer.

There has been Kenny Chesney and I think no one else....

I think they should NOT play Target Field. Wrigley was great because it was Wrigley! For crying out loud, the best band in the land in the best outdoor stadium in the land. Once in a life and leave it be. I'd rather see them at the Xcel, you know....somewhat close to the action.....I'm over these baseball/football field concerts. The sight lines are terrible, the sound is mediocre at best, and its all dependent on the weather. Pass. :nono:
