Been a fan since Ten came out my senior year of HS. Was in the military, and every time they were close, I was deployed. Got out and finally saw them in 2003. Attended back to back shows in Detroit and was blown away. Became a mega-fan those nights.

    Appreciate the opportunity.

Pearl Jam means everything to me. I listen to them everyday, I spend my money on them. I bore the wife talking about Pearl Jam. I would be quite upset if Pearl Jam was no longer because I'd have to go and listen to rubbish music.

Edit..... Also because my wife is out drinking with friends and I've stayed in so I can play Ten in its entirety on Rock Band 2 :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I started out as a fan in the early 90's with Ten. As I grew older I forgot about them until I heard "Last Kiss" which I did not like at first. I was out of the PJ loop then so I didn't know much of the story on why they sang it. I was a huge fan of the original though. It wasn't until I met my wife that I got back into Pearl Jam. She told me everything I needed to know and I respected them a lot after that. I have seen them 4 times now in the past 5 years. Greatest band of all time. I didn't have 10c tickets but got to see them the first night at Alpine.

  • I remember my first time listening to Pearl Jam. I was a freshman in high school and we had our yearly ski trip. We all piled into a bus to head up to the slopes. The bus driver asked if anyone had a tape they wanted her to play. Of course the football jock said "I DO!!" I thought oh great, here we go, some meat head music coming right up. The bus driver popped in the tape and then a few verses into Release from Ten, and I was hooked!! I remember hearing Pearl Jam on the radio, but listening to the album is what did it for me. We must have listened to the tape 3 or 4 times on our way up the mountain. Finally when I got there, headed up the slopes (my first time skiing as well) and all I could do was hummm and sing all I could remember from Ten. It was amazing. I finally got the cash to go to my first show in 98 and if I thought I was a fan before that, I was wrong - way wrong. Pearl Jam live took it to a whole new level for me. I fell in love in love all over again with a high school sweetheart!!!!! Now later on in life, the scenery may have changed in my life, but other than some friends and family..... the only thing constant is Pearl Jam, who in a way is my family, or so it seems.

thanks for the opportunity and the chance to tell my story.
  • Thanks for the chance. I discovered Pearl Jam initially because my older brother had "Ten" when it came out (I was about 7 or 8 at the time) and I always remembered that video for "Jeremy". Then a couple years later when I was in 5th grade we had this really cool teacher who was probably in his mid-late 20's at the time that was big into rock, and I used to talk to him about music and Pearl Jam. He ranted and raved about how he was going to get "Vitalogy" on vinyl when it came out. I didn't have a record player at that point (or an appreciation for vinyl), but I bought the "Vitalogy" CD when it came out, first album I ever bought with my own money. I still have that original "Vitalogy" CD I bought back then on my shelf at home; it's survived a few moves and living away at college, now it's right next to my "Vitalogy" reissue. After all these years they're still the best band to come along in my lifetime :D

I have been a fan since the day I heard Alive on the radio back when i was 19. I have been a fan since then & they continue to be my favourite band. I even got divorced from my ex since she wasn't a fan & fought with me over going to see them in concert. She didn't like me spending the money on the tickets but I went anyway. She was so mad. I said enough is enough & we split. The divorce cost me a fortune but it was worth it as my wife now is amazing & let's me go to all PJ shows. She even has become a fan since she figured out how much I love this band.

    Thanks for the contest!

In 1991 I was in high school, and the Alive video came out. It was amazing, and I got the album, and thought it was good, and picked up bootlegs and could hear the raw, intense sound and could not get enough of it. $50 bootlegs were worth every penny. The next year I was playing in a band, and we would cover a lot of their songs, so we listened to lots of boots. Loved being able to play their music at such young age, and share it with others.

It was a great time in musical history, and felt so right for what I was going thru then too.

In 1993 I told myself "I hope Pearl Jam and The Simpsons go on forever". So far, that wish has come true. :)

My hubby introduced me to PJ (although we weren't married way back then). He brought Ten home one day and it was Jeremy that got me hooked. 20 years later here I am.

When I was around 4-5 years old my parents would play VS whenever we took a car trip. Then when I was a teenage I eventually picked up Ten and my first reaction was "I need some more music from this band" Cut to a year later Backspacer comes out and I pick it up. While listening to some songs like "The End" "Unthought Known" and "Just Breathe" I actually started to break down a little and cry. It was the first time that music has affected my emotions that way. After that moment I knew that I had to buy every album this band made. I also knew that music was my true passion. Since then I have devoted alot of my life to music because it makes me feel like nothing else. After hearing the rest of the bands music I almost felt like it was a milestone in my life. PJ build the bridge in my life...it's something I can't describe into words. PJ/Music is my passion and they are one of those bands that their music can affect me in countless numbers of ways. They have touched me....made my feel alive....made me feel sad and made my feel like a have to rock! And then after joining this club I felt like I joined a family like no other. As I have said before, you can't find a better band (And band Fansite). Thank you for the chance!

They mean everything to and besides my family, their music is what I'm most passionate about in life.

My sister actually had their cd when we were in high school. She has an excellent ear for music, but after a listen I took it!

Great stories! Mine starts when I was 14. I was a really big nirvana fan and collected everything they did. Was watching the MTV awards show that PJ was on and heard that 20 second clip of spin the black circle. I was instantly captivated by the sound. I unfortunately missed who the band was and it took me two months to find out the name of the song. Once I did I only bought the cd single which was the only thing I listened to for about three weeks before buying Vitalogy. After that I forgot who nirvana was and sold all of the rare CDs I had of nirvanas. Now I collect PJ.

I first got into Pearl Jam in 1992 at the age of 21! I remember that i always read music magazine reviews of new CD releases. I read an article about Ten and Pearl Jam. The rating for Ten was 5 out of 5 starts possible. Sure I bought the CD on the same day. From that day on Pearl Jam took part of my every day life and it went on for many years, until 2005. In this year a family desaster completely changed my life and i totally lost the connection to music and Pearl Jam. At this time my 8 year old son was diagnosed with a grade 5 brain cancer, called glioblastom (don't know the name in english). There is hardly a chance to survive this type of tumor. He fought for more than 1,5 years and finally was released from his pain in June 2007. I fell into a really deep whole and had troubles to handle my own life....
However, with my wife and family around me i managed overcome these horrible times. In 2008 Pearl Jam came back into my life...bigger and better than before!! Till today Pearl Jam is the most important thing in my life beside my wife & family. I started to collect everything available on this planet and today my apartment is more like a Pearl Jam museum. Thanks god i have such a wonderful and understanding wife! :D

Found out about PJ from my friends cousin who was about 16 in 91. Was really into music. Made me a cassette tape of it in late 91 and it was all I listened to. Begged my dad for a CD player for my 10th birthday in 1992 and the first CD I got was Ten. Bought every CD from PJ when they were released. In later years I started collecting their vinyl catalog and now own most of their vinyl releases. Pearl Jam was the soundtrack of my youth and now seems to be the soundtrack of my adult life. I listen to them more than any other band. Thanks for the chance.
