Tour T-shirts

Not that this message would ever fall into the right hands, but I have some opinions on T-shirts for the upcoming tour.
T-shirts are a part of the arena rock experience, and have been for decades, yet most bands' merch people still fail to get it right, especially pearl jam.
1) what is with the "girls" tees? Honestly, the "XL" fits a small third grader. For the 2003 tour I wore a size 8-10 clothes, and if I were to buy a women's t-shirt at say, the GAP, a medium would have been the perfect size. But I bought an "XL" girls tee at one of the shows, and I never wore it- I could barely get it on, it was so skin tight it cut off my circulation around my arms. Let's get real, why do "girls" tees have to be so tiny? We're not buying them because they're smaller, we're buying them because they're CUT differently.
2) since we are thus relegated to oddly fitting men's tshirts, can we at least get some decent fabric? that thick tshirt cotton that shrinks up and gets all weird is an artifact of the 80s. We have better fiber technology now. I give props to the foo fighters- at their show this year I got a great tshirt with this nice soft, thinner cotton. It's like what the girls tees are usually made of, but it's a "co-ed" shirt. The tag says Bay Island sportswear. Very nice, it looks cool- unlike all my pearl jam concert tees that look like I borrowed them from an overweight mom on vacation in disneyland. It's not very rock n roll.
that is all.

but i do feel your pain, I'm a big guy and i bought a t from the vote for change tour, wore it once and had to sell it on eBay because it was made for an anorexic Chinese midget (XXL ? i don't fucking think so)
You don't have to be fat to be a 'big guy'. Would you call Dennis Rodman fat? He wouldn't fit into an XL.

not a men's XL, read the post. the women's tees aren't normal. XL's should fit fat people, that's why they're called "XL." XLs should not be too small for a medium sized, tight-bodied woman. Have you held up one of those girls shirts? they are literally for small children all around. they are too short and everything.
if they are using the soft stuff now that's good. I haven't bought a shirt since 03 since I was so disappointed in the thick fabric.
Totally agree. And the same goes for women.
it was a general complaint on the bitching over the merchandise
lose weight, be saved
read what was said about denis rodman.
(also, as an aside, some people might look "fat" and you would say they need to lose weight, but you don't know anything about them. there *are* conditions that make people store an inordinant amount of fat. I look fat now due to something I have no control over, but I've never had *any* bad habits, and am infact much fitter than the average person-if I weren't fit, I would be enormous. It hurts me that people like you would just tell me to "lose weight," because you are making assumptions based on appearence without knowing anything about the person and their individual biology. I find "lose weight be saved" to be a somewhat ignorant and offensive comment. this is not what this thread is about but it is a hurtful comment that needs to be responded to).
I am 5' 9" and 160 lbs and I can't wear any of the XL shirts I bought in 2004 and 2005. They shrank down to kid's sizes and were small to begin with. They changed their supplier for shirts in 2004 and the quality has sucked ever since.

Fitting into them initially is not the problem. Fitting into them after one or two washing is.

Absolutely agree! The "girls" cut is perfect, but needs to be larger. The small could fit my 5 year old! The men's cut is no good & the material sucks.
And no, we don't need to lose weight. Some of us have boobs! ( & they are not fitting in a girls cut tee!)

The original post was about the girls T's, although the cut is great the sizing IS too small on them. I wear English size 10-12 and the only size that fits me is XL, I would buy a M anywhere else....so its not about whether people are too fat or not.
And to anyone having problems with shrinking - make sure you never tumble dry, always dry them 'naturally' (unless you want a cool t-shirt for your Barbie to wear )

I wear an English 10 & the small fits me fine!

I don't have much in the boobs department, but I have huge arms and back and just a very thick torso. I'm a bit flabbier these days, but in the past even when I *weighed* less I was jacked and just couldn't get into those tiny things. Just looking at them, they look like childrens clothes.
That's weird! I've always bought XL's to fit at shows and through 10C - you must be super trim

Haha, there are stores in the mall that i refuse to go into because i was in there once and i couldn't figure out where the women's section ended and the girls section began!

What I wanna know is why arent there any "show specific" tees anymore??
I like the ones that say ie: " pearl jam Live @ msg 6/24/08" etc... I have one from randalls island in 96 that has that on the back.

I'm built like a football player not a chess champ so while i could stand to loose a few pounds it wouldn't make a difference in the shirt.
i guess you pigeon chested pencil necks with your girlie arms have no problems with the current sizing.
Homer Simpson voice "mmmmmmmmmmm,uniboob!!!"
if only that were the case...i could move to williamsburg and wear tight jeans
Post of the morning right there! LOL!
This has been a topic since '04, and yes, the shirts are about a size smaller than pre-VFC shirts. I'm 5'-10", 170 lbs., and they are the only concert tees I have ever bought were a XL fits so tight. I've bought XXL on the last tour to compensate, but although the fit works, they are still tissue thin.
Not a major problem, but worth discussion. Too bad the unoffical "PJ Police" have to get involved in every conversation that doesn't worship the band.
I've said it before, and it's worth repeating:
The band doesn't make the merchandise, they just sell it. Speaking up about your issues with a garment is NOT a dis to the band. If you like the new shirts, feel free to praise them. But, don't tell other people they are "fat" because of an issue that has been discussed for the last 4 years. I believe it's why some shirts have size references in the "Goods" section now.
Most of the women's concert tee's I have don't even have the name of the tour, list of city's, anything....just the band name on the front. Could probably buy these anywhere...
would love a specific show on a tee (the girls ones too!) or at leat the tour name & year would be nice for the girls!
