So right when I heard that the poster artists were going to be at PJ 20, I got really excited to meet them. But in particular Brad. It is always iffy meeting people who's work you really respect. They could turn out to be a total d-bag.

I was able to meet Brad on Saturday and was able to talk for a few minutes. The lines to meet the artists were huge, so I didn't want to take up too much of his time. I was about to leave, when he recognized me from the boards because of the shirt with my avatar on it. We then talked for a few more minutes. He told me to stop by again and we could chat some more.

I was struck by how easy going and cool he was. He just hung out and met with everyone! I had two of the four poster set that he did for the 2010 tour, and I asked him if it was cool to bring those in on Sunday and get them signed. He was more than happy to fill my request. One day I hope to finish my collection with the New Orleans poster (I was able to score his Dublin s/n print which is my favorite).

So, I went back Sunday and was able to score a S/N poster and was able to go back once things slowed down to get my two posters signed by him. I decided to go back a 3rd time later in the day and when I reached the table, he was drawing a really cool owl face in this little green book. I had seen a few other artists doodling in the same book, so I figured it was something they all were doing at different times. No, come to find out a fan was having each artist do a little doodle. I don't know how long Brad worked on it, but I stood and watched and just chatted with him for about 20 minutes until he "finished" (He knew he would never be completely satisfied with it!) He signed it and gave it back to the guy. I mean, how cool would it be to have a one of a kind little keepsake from him?

It's funny before the weekend even started, the guy I shared 10C tix told me of an AWESOME story where Brad helped him get one of the signed Bridge School posters.

So as I sit here and gush over how cool it was to meet him, I just want to thank Brad for yet another awesome reason why this past weekend was one of the greatest I have ever experienced.

Thanks

Brad's one cool dude. I stopped by to get a s/n poster, and had him sign the regular one I had bought before knowing about the s/n ones. He's so modest and down to earth and NICE! He asked me if I had a good weekend and we started talking about the shows but then I started feeling bad because there was a long line behind him so I paid and left. Could have talked to him all afternoon.

I totally agree. I done just about the same exact thing as the OP. Brad talked to me like I was the only one in the room  . He remembered all of my emails I have sent to him and what they were about.

This is why PJ is the best. They attract the best talent and most important the best people.

I told BK "I have all your posters" he replied " So do I" I couldnt say enough great things about him. What a great guy :D

I met and talked to brad too on Saturday!
Weird because most of the people were standing in line for the Ames brothers..
And me and my good pj friend are chatting poster stories and inspirations with the mega infamous brad klausen.. With no one behind us?
I looked down and saw a single nook of his on the table. I asked if I could buy it. He said it was his lady one ( he didn't bring enough to even last the first day) so he joked that I was smart to ask.
It was already signed but he took out another color marker and personalized it with my name !
Just a really cool smart very approachable guy!
With all the amazing things he created for pj, soundgarden and sic, as well as all the bootleg artwork for the 2000, 2005 and 2006 pj tours as well as the gorge boxed set...
I was shocked he wasn't totally mobbed!
    Another pj20 moment for me!!!

I could easily respond to every one of the responses in this thread. Brad is even going to check and see if he has an New Orleans print. I forgot to mention that one!

Met him at a book signing in Chicago a while back. Very chill guy, made sure to spend time with us poster fans. Love his style, and wish I had a reason to commission some work from him...

I JUST thought of that. I would love to figure out what that would take to have happen!

  • Yeah very cool and chill. I saw him at the airport yesterday. He was at the kiosk beside mine yesterday as I was checking in. But I didn't bother him though and just let him be.

  • He is a very chill/nice guy...Got to thank him in passing. He smiled kindly and nodded.

I also saw him on the side of the stage prior to PJ coming out....

All of the artists (poster art) seemed awesome. I was able to go up to each table and look around.

I grabbed a Jermaine print and chatted up with he and the girl with him. Very cool peeps.

Not sure which girl you met; one was his wife and the other their daughter. It took me awhile to figure out! It was so cool to see the whole family together.

Brad is a good guy. He helped me out with a print a while back and could not have been any more helpful. By far my favorite PJ artist.
