Lost 9 friends they'll never know 8 years ago today...

Does anyone realize today is 8 years? I have chills running up and down my spine and body all day. I can't believe I get to be there today. Oh wow it will be a truly special night. I'll be the guy in row A section 8 with the 'Love is all you need sign.' Please say a prayer today for the 9 precious lives that were lost that day. Love you all.

'I know it's already been sung. Can't be said enough. Love is all you need. All you need is love...love...love...love...love...love...love...love...love.

For me its a strange day, its been 10 years now since I saw my first show. So I'm happy about that experience and everything, just wish we didn't have 8 years ago to remember those 9 souls as well. :(

9 people were killed in Roskilde on this day 8 years ago.
It was during PJ's set and broke so many hearts, including everyone in the band.
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

Thanks for the explanation. I'm sure it will be on their minds tonight and I would expect a rememberance at some point tonight.

This is so painful…..I think we are waiting for someone to wake us and say it was just a horrible nightmare…And there are absolutely no words to express our anguish in regard to the parents and loved ones of these precious lives lost. We have not yet been told what actually occurred, but it seemed random and sickeningly quick…..it doesn’t make sense. When you agree to play a festival of this size and reputation, it is impossible to imagine such a heart-wrenching scenario. Our lives will never be the same, but we know that is nothing compared to the grief of the families and friends of those involved. It is so tragic…..there are no words.

    Devastated,

Very dark day in the history of Pearl Jam, especially hard since the band could do little to stop what was happening at the moment.

Well everyone I totally understand everyones pain today. However, I just wanted to say that today is my birthday. I am 26 and I think a song like Alive would be totally appropriate. I love pearl Jam. This will be my 28th show. It is my 6th of the tour. I have listened to them since the 5th grade. So I totally recognize that those people died on this day. I will think of them during Love Boat Captain. But also today, Im Still Alive.

P.S. if you knew I had 4 knee surgeries, potential bloodcloots, and overall massive health problems over the past year, and have rebounded exponetially only with the help of one unbelievable doctor for Cornell, could it sound any truer that Im Still Alive?

I gotta say that I agree with this. No reason to get all depressed over this. It really doesn't hit home, I think you are exaggerating a little bit.

I tried doing a search for the nine jamily members who left us, but I couldn't find it. If anyone knows their names, it would be nice if we could get LukinFan to post some sort of dedication in the first post of tonight's concert.

I hope they have a great view from up above tonight, this show is for them.
Hail, hail the lucky ones, I refer to those in love.
