well first of they knew what they were getting into when they went after these jobs (long hours)
second.....maybe they should tell their story about long hours not matching their pay to a person in the military.
screw these ass clowns !

Hahaha, I work long hours too and I work HARD...unlike the politicians and other shady characters in Washington AND IM MAKING MINIMUM WAGE. These people need to stop thinking of themselves when they have private jets, new suits and hours-long daily lunch breaks and get back to the jobs that they signed up for. Dang...you don't hear me complaining about my hours and pay and I work ten times as hard as these people do. They all need to go. I used to want to be a politican to get in office and correct all of this shady stuff but I realized that we are too deep in a hole to be able to correct it...so I stopped voting and refuse to be apart of their games. Maybe we should crash the system by not being apart of it, you know? Just a thought.COLUMBUS, OH 5.6.10

Go Army.com states that a military police sergeant makes $29,380 a year. Privates make just over $20K! Good lord, they should have become teachers!

I'd give them a raise, soon as were out of debt.0

they are so out of touch with real america. sad really. pretty much describes why we have no real representation for the average american worker. can't live on $174,00 a year - fuckers.0

You should have to have the median family income of the United states as your salary. If you want a raise...your policies should be based on raising that income. Making life better for your constituents makes your life better...I have no sympathy for those people who chose to run for office...screw emthat’s right! So much for shared sacrifice I guess...
I get that $174,000 isn't a ton of money if you are living in LA or NYC, but the one guy quoted was a rep from Wisconsin. If you can't make ends meet with $174,000 a year in Wisconsin you are doing something wrong. No wonder these clowns can't make the gov't run more efficiently, they apparently can't even manage their own finances. My whole life

And as a teacher, the military should earn even more than that. Too much emphasis is put on how high a degree a person has achieved, not the degree of importance/difficulty of their job.98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.

The sad thing is that most people work long hours and don't see anything close to $100k let alone the nearly $200k that elected representatives "earn". Of course, while passing legislation that actually benefits society is beyond the grasp of government, a pay increase will be passed without a second thought.
Ask a junior at an accounting or law firm about hours and pay. Speak to a medical intern, paramedic or a nurse. They'd laugh these fools straight out of office.0 -

I'm not saying that people in the military are paid enough, but like this recruiter link says, once you figure in housing, food, medical care & tax breaks, it's not like they are truly living at the poverty level.
In the military, does your job title greatly dictated your pay that much, or is more on rank/years or service? Does a sergeant who is in charge of the food service on some base in South Carolina, make roughly the same amount as an infantry sergeant who is in on the front lines in Afghanistan? My whole life

that guy wasn't complaining specifically though. He was stating it as a matter of fact. he acknowledged that he made the choice to keep his wife at home and all that. He wasn't complaining. He was just asked the question. I saw a piece about him...funny thing...he was on the real world, yep that real world...
Who knows...i get concerned when elected officials charged with managing our countries finances are living pay check to pay check. I don't think they should be given raises at all, but i don't think they should be elected if you cannot figure our how to live comfortably on 174000 a year...I would never have a monetary problem if I made that much...to quote my favorite lizard, not now not never...that’s right! these assholes want to take money from lobbyists and corporate interests, yet cut education, cut disaster funding, cut medicare and social security, cut funding for women's health and preventive medicine, cut the epa and the faa, cut medicaid benefits, make it more difficult to get a student loan, bail out the banksters and wall street, and basically do everything to keep the poor poor, yet give themselves a raise....
hell no!!

The main issue here is we have some congressmen who are living beyond their means, and then we expect them to be able to balance America's budget? They can't even figure out how to balance a budget off of $174,000 a year! I'm sorry, but if you are living paycheck to paycheck maybe it is time to sell off your VACATION HOME! Pretty sure there are a lot of citizens out there who have a hard time affording rent let alone one house.0
