First Pressing?

Hello knowledgeable ones!

How do you tell if your vinyls are first pressings? Is it something to do with the numbers and letters that are engraved on them? Or other numbers somewhere? Or is it that with albums outside Ten all PJ vinyls are first pressings cause they haven't been re-issued? And then how would you tell if Ten was a first pressing?

I thought someone on here would be able to help me out, I've just been looking at my records and wondering.

Cheers,
Tope

We've been waiting ten years now

I am new to poster collecting / trading.

    What does AP stand for?

I assume S/N stands for signed & numbered?

    Thanks!

Early pressing of the Vitalogy LP have a paper sleeve for the record inside. Later pressings have a glossy sleeve.

You are correct about S/N meaning signed & numbered. I think AP is artists proof, but I'm not sure if that's correct. I think APs are usually also S/N.
  • yes A/P means artists proof.

they are not always signed or numbered. in the case of pearl jam posters though, this is usually the way it works.

as for the vinyl pressings i would assume the lower the number the earlier the pressing. i think, but could be wrong, that ten is the only one that has been repressed. so that would make the others all first pressings.

my vitalogy has paper sleeve, but ive never seen a another one.

    Thank you!

What is a concert poster referred to then? ( the one we could purchase at the actual concert?)

It is a 1st edition and is unsigned (at least in the case of pj)
  • and there is nothing wrong with the 1st edition.
