seen them a couple times, good show, not over the top great. keidis is limited but flea is manic, both shows were w/frusciante and i think he will be sorely missed. will definitely see them on upcoming tour.

I had never heard anything but bad things about them live, but each time I have seen them they haven't disappointed at all. Saw them with Dave and saw them with John.
I know fans who have seen them on multiple tours, and even they say they're hit and miss. I saw them once in Australia in 1999 or thereabouts, and they were fucking great, but that's just my experience. I am in no way a fan of theirs, either.
My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. EV: 8 in 2011, 1 in 2012. Brad: 1 in 1998, 1 in 2002.
they are not the most amazing live band ever, but Im a big fan. REALLY hoping this album is okay with no frusciante in the mix. the last time i saw them I was second row at an arena show, the seats got torn the fuck up and it turned into GA pretty quick. they did an AMAZING, UNREAL end jam at the end of the show with the guitarist from Mars Volta, it was insanely good him and frusciante trading off. and as mentioned, flea and chad are SICK!!!! purple stain is wicked if you can get to see that one live, great jam.
Go see them, you gotta see them once at least!
seeing them surprise open for pearl jam two nights in a row in 2000 wasnt bad either!
Funny... I saw them on that same tour in Toronto, and thought that the Mars Volta produced disorganized noise (at best), and that the RHCP put on one of the most orchestrated, uninspired shows I've ever seen, and the place was void of energy. I also felt that Anthony Kiedis' singing left much to be desired. Needless to say... I wasn't too impressed.

Saw them on the BSSM tour in the early 90's (92?) in Brisbane at Festival hall, just after John left mid tour in Japan. Arik Marshall was the guitarist for the rest of the tour. They were great that night and put on a great show( did the socks on cocks in the encore too - not so enjoyable !)
I wouldn't go and see them now though, but that has more to do with the fact that I don't like much they've done since BSSM and Red hot Minute. Didn't mind Californication, but hated Stadium Arcadium and have just heard their new song this week and it sound like everything else they have done for the last 5+ years
I'll ride the wave where it takes me

Saw them once in 07, the band was great, kiedis was okay. Worth seeing though!
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
I'm not sure how many on here actually saw them in the 80's or up until 1992, but I can tell you that during that period they were GREAT live, high energy and were TIGHT as hell as a band, if you didn't see them during this time period it sounds like you missed them at their best.As far as now, I haven't seen them if forever but if they come around I may go see for myself how they are now.
I saw them in 2002 and 2006. They were not that good either time. And I was a HUGE fan back in 02. After the first disappointing show I went to the second only because me and my friends needed an excuse for a roadtrip lol.
I've seen them 6 times and they've been great. Of course, 5 of the 6 have come in LA so they probably get a little more amped for hometown shows. Seeing them next week at Club Nokia which will be my first time seeing them without John. Looking forward to the show.
saw them in '96 with dave navarro and they sounded tight... one hot minute was a solid album... and towards the end Flea wore nothin but his socks and bass so that was cool...
but without dave navarro, they always sounded a bit empty live... at least on the TV footage I've seen
