Am I the only one who knows they are merely puppets? And that even little kids KNOW they are puppets... not REAL Human Beings?
I mean, i remember being a little kid and watching T.V. and knowing that Gumby wasn't a real person. I was able to tell the difference between people and green clay figures with an inexplicably weird shaped, angled head... and I was just some dumb 4 year old. And don't try to use the Santa Claus arguement... the Santa Claus character is portrayed by humans to be a human and verified to kids by the repeated lies of their human parents.
If you are telling your kid... and your kid really believes that Bert and Ernie are real people... not puppets/cartoon characters/dolls/toys... then, you've got greater problems than two make believe creatures pretending to get gat married on television.

Bert and Ernie may well be gay for all I know. But wouldn't it be nice if someday there were an openly gay couple on a kids show and no one ever really got hot and bothered by it? Nobody watches a TV show today and says, "HOLY SHIT, THERE'S A BLACK GUY ON THAT SHOW!!" Can't we have a gay couple on a kids show and have that be normal just because, well, because it is normal??
