I have been a fan of Pearl Jam since 1992, but tonight was the first time I saw the original "Jeremy" video. I never even knew it existed. I hate to even admit it :) but I had to. How pathetic? :D 16 yrs. later. I still can't believe it. I think I'm about to hear some s**t.

I've never seen it either. Of course, I was 2 years old when Jeremy came out but I mean... still. :)

I've never seen it either. I was a country girl up until 1998, which meant no TV only radio....and thank god for that.

Only if MTV/Vh1 still plays music video, eh? ;)

Alternative Nation was the last good music show, I think it ended like '96 I was about 14.

I never understood why that video was so 'great' to begin with. It was good, but nothing earth shattering. I guess at the time the video market was probably flooded with much crappier vids, so in comparison, it was really ground-breaking.

I always liked the DTE video best. Now that's a kick ass piece of art!

No I mean I didn't know there was a "Jeremy" video that was done before the Mtv Jeremy video that was never released.

The problem with this video is it just shows everything described in the lyrics... I like videos that expand on the idea.

Actually, I hate videos in general, but I tend to like the latter more than the former.

But the Do The Evolution video is awesome.

It is amazing though that you have been a fan since 92 and never knew it existed. Its kind of funny. Sorry.

I disagree. From the lyrics, you can tell that Jeremy is picked on. But without the video, the line "Jeremy spoke in class today" is pretty vague. You could interpret that Jeremy "speaking in class" is him fighting back...rather than killing himself. Nothing else in the lyrics reference suicide.

Watch VH1 Classic, then you will see why it is so great. Also, DTE is PJ's best video by far.

BTW, does nybody find the Oceans video kinda homosexual? Of course, "not that there is anything wrong with that"

Agreed. The DTE vid kicks ass! Todd McFarlane is amazing. Did you ever see the animation series of Spawn that used to be on HBO. He created that as well. Always enjoyed it.

Wouldn't some PJ McFarlane figures kick ass.

I'm with you, the video tells the whole story of what the song is about. It's very dark, very powerful and fits the mood of the song perfectly.

I was hesitant to tell on myself. But I'm just in shock that I didn't know about this. I expected to hear some crap about it. Well deserved crap in my opinion :D I stumbled upon it trying to explain the original video and the message of the song to my 2 young sons.

never knew nor saw it before this post. Looks like all the other ten videos, the pellington version is wayyyy better. The strobe with Ed wailing is the best!

Can I also add Jeremy is still a kickass studio song!

thanks for the post, never knew in my 15 plus years either

that uncut version is unreal never saw it either the gun part made me cry.

so we go from wife beater wearing naked PJ to a pellington masterpeice!

    the magenta wolf
the kid throwing the apple to the teacher
    Ed's brown Corduroy
The still kids pointing at him
    Standing wrapped in the flag
the class all doing the nazi salute!
the kid screaming with the light in his face
Ed pointing to his head with gun fingers

this video was unreal with all the subtleties

thank you never saw EITHER version Ed was so riveting with his expression in this video

I understand certain members of the band did not want to do the video. What would your interpretation be if you had no visuals to call upon? I've got mine. I think of Stephen King's story Rage.
