I dont agree with most you say G, and I usually chalk it up to difference of opinion, but this is just rude bro.
You sound like the typical complacent person who has never had any adversity in his face. I believe POD is standing up for himself and pushing for equal rights.
There is another thread dedicated to this guy Perry and his advocates. I honestly knew nothing about him before that thread. I'm glad he started this follow-up thread - I learned a bit about how unbalanced Perry is...And if I was POD, and saw the support that this Perry guy was getting, I'd feel a bit threatened personally. I'm not POD, but I fear politicians like this Perry guy. I'm glad people like POD voice their opinions, and you know what, I dont care if he says personal things in every post, he's comfortable with who he is if you ask me. I pity people who feel threatened by his choice to use freedom of expression.
i have to agree with everything you have said here JP.

Christians don't believe that the gubment should do their bidding.
Um... yes... in fact.. they do.
Many of them do, anyway.
That's why you'll VERY often hear politicians blather on about their religion or see them sucking up to religious leaders, it's the reasoning given for their support of anything from taking books out of school libraries to Tax Cuts for Oil Companies.
It is their belief in Jesus that drives them to not look for the almighty gubment to solve their problems and provide for them. It is for this reason why we are on the same side of the politcial specrum.
Go Jesus.
This is the most absurd post I've ever read.
Maybe you haven't noticed but since the new GOP house has taken shape, most of what they've done has been "Jesus-based" governing. From using religion to make anti-abortion laws, taking books out of school libraries that aren't "bible based" enough to attacking the poor (for some reason, I've never figured out how Jesus would approve of that but to be fair, I haven't been to church in a long time).
and Remember Bush's "Faith-Based" initiatives that were just fronts for shoveling government money into churches so it could be donated tax-free back to Bush's re-election campaign?
Christians don't believe that the gubment should do their bidding.
Around any election time, fundamentalist churches often overtly campaign for particular candidates. This includes flyers handed out on Sunday and pastors calling on church members to vote for certain candidates in their Sunday sermon.
I'm glad you're on here, mamasan, so we can keep you abreast of what's happening.
Well to "exist" maybe not... but you sure have suggested that's about all you're willing to allow me and my family...
I'm just fed up with all the feel sorry me bullshit cause
Um... I've never once asked anyone to "feel sorry for me" but your whiney post about how you just can't handle the mean gay man standing up for his family sure did have a "poor oppressed me" tone to it.
gay people think the world hates them
Well, they do execute and/or imprison us in about 30 countries.

I don't think I could be happier if i get a free popsicle every morning. That doesn't mean I'm not going to keep standing up for myself and no amount of you crying about it is going to change that.

Separation of church and state? Interesting. Where do they do that these days? Just wonderin'.
"Pretty cookies, heart squares all around, yeah!" -Eddie Vedder, "Smile"
Of course it is. body fat goes over 14% and I could lose my membership card, you know.
(just to be clear... you know the "killer set of abs" is like... totally a joke and not even close to true, right? That's one of my "breaking the tension" jokes.

GEEEEZE I rest my case POD.....You and this anti Christian anything and your constant babble about gay thing's is just a little tiring, so you're gay..we all know that but you can stop slamming Christians and polititions for being Christian, you have a chip on tour sholder about what I don't know but you seem to want to take it out on anyone who is of the Christian faith, ease up man.
Godfather.
Really!!! You're tired of 'hearing' about gay and he's probably tired of being 'hated' because he is gay. Is POD bashing Christians or is he bashing people in power, people of influence who use their religious foundation to subvert the rights of other people? At no time does it appear that POD questioned a person's right to believe what they want, he always seems to questions the the rights of other people who seek to deny gay people the right to exist society like any other citizen.
REALLY !!.........don't you have a pride parade to go to or something ? point out out where I used the word hate anywhere and here's a new's flash for ya I never denied him the right to exist I'm just fed up with all the feel sorry me bullshit cause gay people think the world hates them and he most times has to throw the Christian thing in there like he's blaming every Christian for his anger or unhappiness connected to his being gay,

First of all you need to re-read my reply. I stated -- he's probably tired of being 'hated' because he is gay--; no where did I say you 'hated', so get over yourself .
Gay parades are not my thing, but I recognize the classic talking point strategy, accuse the opposing viewpoint of being gay inorder to discourage others from speaking up against wrongdoings.
You are deliberately trying twist POD's point regarding politicians and organizations that utilize their religious foundation to deny other people their rights.
You're right,in that they are bullshit issues, issues being imposed on a select segment of the American population. Why?
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.
I agree with GF in his earlier post when he was pissed....
if your married already why bitch?
“We the people are the rightful masters of bothCongress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” Abraham Lincoln
I agree with GF in his earlier post when he was pissed....
if your married already why bitch?
First of all... I'm not "bitching."
Second, my marriage was performed in Canada. Which means it's not legally recognized here. Which means there are over 1300 rights, protections, responsibilities, perks and privileges that my husband of 19 years and I do not enjoy.
For instance, because he's a Canadian citizen, he could lose his work visa and be deported at any time. If we were an opposite sex couple, he have gotten a green card when we moved here and he'd have been a citizen by now. And if I die, he doesn't receive my pension survivor benefits.
THAT is why I kinda feel it necessary to stand up for myself. Sorry if you feel that's "bitchy."
If the Christian's don't feel like religion should govern on stuff like helping others out, why do they think it's okay to push their morals?
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Are you really that mean-spirited that you see how we're not treated equally or even fairly and you just shrug it off and say " not my problem so don't fix it?"
I don't know who he takes orders from, but Rick Perry has always, for as long as he's been governor of Texas (45 years), been opposed to gay marriage. You know how I know? Because he keeps getting elected in Texas.
He's also the biggest state's rights guy since Jefferson Davis.
There isn't really anything new or controversial about this story.

You're absolutely right about all of your statements (I'm assuming that saying he's been Governor for 45 years is a typo).
He's always been against marriage equality. He's one of those "state's rights" people. This isn't new.
But I didn't say it was new... I'm saying that the story itself is telling.
He made a "state's rights" statement that said, essentially, "New York voted to have marriage equality and it's their state and they should be able to make that choice and I have no problem with that."
And THAT is when the "Family Research Counsel" (that does no actual research on families, by the way) instructed him to clarify himself. And when they said "jump," he said "how high?"
And I will NEVER trust a leader who lets himself be bullied by hate groups.

So... explain to me what that means?
He's been governor 10 years. No Texas governor has ever served as long as Perry.
In spite of that he's not a popular governor. He redeemed his reputation slightly by winning reelection in 2010, largely with Tea Party support. Prior to that another of his nicknames was Governor 39%, after winning the 2006 election with only 39% of the vote. He benefited from having 2 independent candidates who split the vote away from the Democrat running against him. For most of his political career, he's had a lot of luck.
