Rick Perry ordered to dial back his "meh" to gay marriage.

Hate group leader Tony Perkins has forced Texas Gov. Rick Perry to walk back his previous statement that he was "fine" with same-sex marriage if that's what a state were to decide for itself.
Here's the new quote by Perry which was just posted to the blog of the Family Research Council: "I probably needed to add a few words after that ‘it’s fine with me,’ and that it’s fine with me that a state is using their sovereign rights to decide an issue. Obviously gay marriage is not fine with me. My stance hasn’t changed."

Nice to know that a big wussy pants like Rick Perry (who cant go jogging without taking a laser-guided hand gun he claims is capable of turning a coyote into "mulch') takes orders from extreme right-wing Christian groups.
I'm sure that when he's elected president, his orders will be coming from Focus on the Family, NOM and other self-appointed moral bullies.
What a "leader" he is. Although imagine what great sex positions he can get into without having a spine.

Go Texas.
It's not about "states rights" as much as "a governor who takes his orders from an un-elected Christian zealot."
Does that not make you a bit nervous?
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.
When you're told to correct yourself and make public statements that are in line with what the leader of the Family Research Counsel (a known hate group) wants you to say... kinda what I'd call "taking orders."
If some how he became president... do you also think he'd be taking directions on what to say and what to do from religious wing nuts? Cuz I do.
Godfather.
I don't know man.. sometimes these people like Perry are creating it themselves.
Separation of church and state? I think some of the folks that use religion to guide them in matters of politics, deserve a little criticism.
And btw, if you wanted to get married and this guy Perry told you that you werent allowed, I bet you'd be vocal about it too.
Wow... how dare that gay guy actually stand up for himself and his family against a HUGE, massively-funded hate campaign whose goal is to remove all of his rights, protections and safety nets?
I mean... can't he stop like... being so gay all the time?
I mean... us straight guys never go on about how 49% of the country wants to stop our legal right to get married and have it legal to fire us for being straight!!...
Oh. wait...
(you know what, Godfather... you give me and my family every right that Rick Perry's has and I promise I'll NEVER mention being gay again. Deal?)
This guy is back and forth here^^^
He says believes that marriage should be defined by the states.. then later, he wants to pass the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would keep states from recognizing same sex marriages?? He sounds confused about a few things..
Really!!! You're tired of 'hearing' about gay and he's probably tired of being 'hated' because he is gay. Is POD bashing Christians or is he bashing people in power, people of influence who use their religious foundation to subvert the rights of other people? At no time does it appear that POD questioned a person's right to believe what they want, he always seems to questions the the rights of other people who seek to deny gay people the right to exist society like any other citizen.
I wish I could make that deal, because it's the right thing to do...oh, and I'd love it for you to stop mentioning your sexuality all the time.
Finally.... If I say it I get banned.
People can apparently Christian-bash on here all day long and the Mods could care less.
I agree. There's no need to remind us in every post that you produce gay porn movies. At this point, it is rarely relevant to the actual topic.
Um.. funny, I haven't mentioned that in a while and I only do when it's relevant to the conversation we're having at the time (or as a joke used to break tension... and we do get a bit tense here from time to time and need a laugh).
And let's please note that in this thread it was YOU who brought it up and not me.
I have never once "Christian Bashed."
I have many close friends who are Christian and so are my parents. You can believe what you want and so can I. I have never once tried to use my religion as a weapon against others and I would never dream of using my own beliefs as a pedestal from which I tell others how to live their lives or to deny rights to anyone.
I'm also a Vegan and when I have barbecues at my house, I buy and prepare meat for my friends who might not want grilled Tofurkey sausages and Fennel.
I would like to think that in a country as big as America, we could live our own lives and not try to make laws to force others to assimilate to our way of living. I find it sad that when I talk about extreme right-wing people attacking me and my family, that I'm the one accused of "Christian Bashing."
It's been a long time since I've been to a church but I don't recall anywhere in the bible it saying "thou must make the lives of other people as miserable as possible until they follow your rules." Most Christians that I know are very good people. And I don't really consider Focus On The Family a "Christian" group... no matter what they call themselves, they seem pretty antithetical to anything Christianity teaches.
He wasn't bashing Christians, just a right wing group that calls themselves Christian. If you are anti-gay marriage, then you're not Christian.
I'm not the first one in this thread to politely say that it is getting old. And that's the nice way of saying that a "joke to break tension" to you, may be offensive to others.
That's all....
It should be worth noting that he wasn't the first person to bring it up at all though.
ohhhh really ? and who died and left you to be the the great gay protector ?
Godfather.
Actually I read it more as concern that a politician is taking his marching orders from an extremist organization. In this case, that organization happens to be a religious one. Personally, it pisses me off that politicians in America (on both sides of the aisle) take their marching orders from whoever is writing the biggest check on that day.
Though speaking of whining about being a persecuted majority, did anyone see that great bit on The Daily Show last night? A rather masterful takedown of the nuts on Fox News who complain about being persecuted against by the same people THEY are actively persecuting. Brilliant.

my brother
the same Holy Bible that dictates that men cannot lie with men also forbids fucking during and days after the woman's period, and the penance one must pay if this unholy act of carnage is committed
if a man has a wet dream, he must leave the others and go do some sort of cleansing rite
i don't have a bible near me right now, but i have perused one from time to time and there are many rules about marriage and sex
(The bible also says that if a man has just been married, he cannot be called to war for a year - but no "christian" leaders follow that one)
i guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one
peace
"what a long, strange trip it's been"
Me.
to me it is insulting to think a guy who claims to be christian votes against helping the least of us, and is not his brother's keeper, and who votes in favor of capital punishment.
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
I forgot you're a biker.
Godfather.
Go Jesus.
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
REALLY !!.........don't you have a pride parade to go to or something ? point out out where I used the word hate anywhere and here's a new's flash for ya I never denied him the right to exist I'm just fed up with all the feel sorry me bullshit cause gay people think the world hates them and he most times has to throw the Christian thing in there like he's blaming every Christian for his anger or unhappiness connected to his being gay,
what a joke !!!
Godfather.
it just hit me....you died ? my question was "who died"
Godfather.
I dont agree with most you say G, and I usually chalk it up to difference of opinion, but this is just rude bro.
You sound like the typical complacent person who has never had any adversity in his face. I believe POD is standing up for himself and pushing for equal rights.
There is another thread dedicated to this guy Perry and his advocates. I honestly knew nothing about him before that thread. I'm glad he started this follow-up thread - I learned a bit about how unbalanced Perry is...And if I was POD, and saw the support that this Perry guy was getting, I'd feel a bit threatened personally. I'm not POD, but I fear politicians like this Perry guy. I'm glad people like POD voice their opinions, and you know what, I dont care if he says personal things in every post, he's comfortable with who he is if you ask me. I pity people who feel threatened by his choice to use freedom of expression.
