I met Wayne Gretzky when he was 20 years old and I was 13. He was on a publicity tour one summer after his rookie NHL season. So for 7 bucks I got a polaroid with him and a glass of 7UP, lol. Anyways, he was incredibly polite. He autographed the picture, and I had it framed and it still hangs on my wall
Lol, well, its a big deal to us Canadians

I didn't really include how I met Wayne (and most of Team Canada '96) as I didn't talk to any of them except for Wayne. It was an autograph signing so nobody was talking really, just sign it and pass it along because there were so many people there, it felt so impersonal. Anyways, it's getting near the end of it, I'm taking pictures at the same time, I get to Paul Coffey who is sitting beside Wayne, take a picture of Paul signing the sweater. Move it over to Wayne and he just looks up and smiles at me. I ask him, "are you going to sign it?" He said, "I already did." I said, "oh okay, thanks." Grabbed the sweater and turned around to leave then felt like a jerk for what I said. I looked back through my photos a week later and saw that Wayne indeed had signed it on the sleeve instead of the chest.
Hey cavstarr, Yzerman's autograph is on it too. ; )

The first time I met Wayne was in Buffalo. It was 83-84 or somewhere around there. My dad took me to an Oilers/Sabres game and we stayed at the Buffalo Hilton where the Oilers were staying. I was a huge Donnie Edwards fan as a kid(you might not remember him) but Tom Barrasso played that night so I was very disappointed. I got to meet Mark Messier, Wayne, Kevin Lowe, Andy Moog, Grant Fuhr, Glenn Anderson, Jari Kurri...I mean a team by today's standards that could never be put together financially.
Well the Sabres lost and we went back to the hotel. Being a little spaz that I was as kid and not sleeping my dad took me to the restaurant in the lobby of the hotel. We sat down at the counter and ordered. Right after the food arrived doesn't Glen Sather and Wayne sit right down next to us. As I ate cereal (and I never said a word other than my name) doesn't my dad talk hockey training and drills with those guys (he was my coach all through youth hockey). I think back to what those guys could have been thinking about a middle aged dad at 2:00AM in a Buffalo hotel restaurant could have possibly taught them. As we got up to leave I do remember both Glen and Wayne standing up off the counter chairs and shaking both of our hands. I gave Wayne a hug and he wished me good luck for the remainder of the season. My favorite memory so far.

You don't need to but I would love to hear it since I already hate him for joining the Canucks and ruining them. The worst part is he wore his number 11 after it was unofficially retired because of Wayne Maki who passed away while still playing.
Another reason I really don't like him was during a game he cross checked Doug Gilmour in the face without looking. Later he is on the bench and you can see he feels bad that it was on Gilmour, if it was anyone else he wouldn't have cared.

Ok so here it goes. It was about 6 or 7 years ago and me and my buddy go to a Rangers/Blue Jackets game at MSG (I'm a big Rangers fan BTW). Rangers win and me and my buddy had some decent seats so we stick around after the game. Before you know it we make our way down to ice level and around the locker rooms. We meet Ron Duguay (quality act if you know who that is) and have about a half hour conversation with Sam Rosen who used to do play by play for the Rangers on MSG Network. After Sam Rosen leaves us we are kind of standing there with our dicks in the wind and no clue where to go. Eventually security comes up to us and asks for credentials. Of course we have none. We are escorted through the bowels of MSG to an elevator to take us out. As the elevator comes down to us, Mark Messier steps out. I'm shocked. I asked for his autograph and mid sentence he tells me he doesn't have time and to fuck off. I was kind of shocked but I remember the look on his face when the elevators doors were about to shut as he walked away and I told him "fuck you...you should have retired three years ago!" I have to admit the longest segment of time for me was the elevator ride to the top level and me getting my ass out of MSG. Messier would and could have f'ed me up bad.
As the elevator comes down to us, Mark Messier steps out. I'm shocked. I asked for his autograph and mid sentence he tells me he doesn't have time and to fuck off.
He actually said "Fuck off"??
what an asshole.

He's probably not smart enough to just say "Sorry, I must go, I don't want to be late."
I didn't meet him, but I saw Lou Ferrigno in a restaurant when I was little. And a few years ago Billy Connally walked right past me on the street, drinking a coffee.
Haha, I saw Lou Ferrigno at the mall once.
I saw him walking around New York, years ago. My boyfriend yelled "Hey, there's Lou Ferrigno". I remember saying something like "Is he from our town?" I only knew him as "The Hulk".
My last message to you ~
You're right. You are a monster! You are sick! Get help!

I took it as that and I probably should have just typed what he said.. He actually said "no autographs, I don't have fuckin time". I guess not as harsh in hindsight as a straight fuck off but I was still a little offended. So Mark if you read this I apoligize for the misquote but I still think you retired three years too late!

Bad part about it is I'm still a Messier fan. Don't know why but I guess I respect the game enough to know what he did for it.
