Yeah, a great band that was taken away far too soon.

Change is one of my favorite songs of all time.

There is a cool CD-ROM on that Nico disc. Lots of interesting interviews and such.

Your right that is a great disk. The reworked version of No rain is better than the original.

Funny, I listened to their self-titled album first thing this morning.

    Great band!!
    7/2/06 - Denver, CO
    6/12/08 - Tampa, FL
    8/23/09 - Chicago, IL
9/28/09 - Salt Lake City, UT (11 years too long!!!)
    9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1

  • Agreed with a capital AGREED!!

Change, Mouthful of Cavities (my personal fav), St. Andrew's Fall, Soul One. All fan-bleeping-tastic arrangements.

Shannon Hoon was a great, great singer taken way too soon.

I like a handful of their older tunes, but I really like the newest album that came out a few years ago, For My Friends.

You know, they got a lot of flack from old-school fans, but what I heard off that album I really liked. It's too bad things didn't work out.

I thought it was a really great album as well. I got to see them live on that tour and it was so much fun.

  • 2nd favorite band of all time. Will always be. Wasn't so upset when Cobain died, but when Shannon OD'd it was pretty tough. Still tough to think about sometimes, especially when they reunited. I saw them on that tour and it was alright, nothing like seeing em' back in 1993 though (yep, I'm old).

They were such an incredible band, it's a shame most people only know 'No Rain'. I only knew 'No Rain' until a couple years ago when my guitar teacher who was/still is a massive BM fan gave me their self-titled, Soup, and Nico. Wish I would have gotten the chance to see them!

I think I'm gonna go listen to 'Deserted' now, definitely one of my favorite Melon songs!

Blind Melon have always been one of my favourite bands. I was lucky enough to see them live twice, in December 93 when they supported Lenny Kravitz (and blew him away) and then at the Reading Festival in 95 where they played one of the best sets of the weekend in the middle of one of the best festival line ups I've ever seen: http://www.readingfestival.com/2011/history/1995

Shannon's lyrics definitely had a huge impact on me, none more so than 'Walk' which helped me through some difficult times:

Find myself singing the same songs everyday
Ones that make me feel good
When things behing the smiles ain't okay

Around and over and in-between the seas
I need to be on top of a mountain
Where I can be see everything
    Cause this paranoia's getting old

Now as I open my eyes to start another day
I'm in a pile of puke
    Empty bag of execuses
My love for friends and family
    you know I need them

And under a sun that's seen it all before
    My feet are so cold
And I can't believe that I have to bang my head against this wall again
But the blows they have just a little more space in-between them
Gonna take a breath and try again.

    LOVE Blind Melon

Hey I'd like to daze away to a
Place like no one has known
In a state of mind I could call mine
    That only I could own
Where I could hum a tune anytime
I choose, and then there is no such thing as time
Where I can feel no pain just calm and sane
What a place for one to find

I wonder is the best song.
