Anyone a fan? I've loved them since I was a kid. I'd like to see them live, but not with their prices. "Hotel California" is definitely one of the greatest albums of all time and, IMO, a masterpiece.

This is an odd band for me. As a whole, I really don't care for them (and really, I'm trying to be nice here). And yet a small handful of their songs/covers are great- "Take it Easy", "Lyin' Eyes", Already Gone". What really turned me off to them though was when one of their members described Neil Young and Crazy Horses' great album, "Ragged Glory" as a bunch of guys performing a sound check (or something to that effect). I'll be listening to R.G. for a long, long time and will have forgotten about The Eagles... until the next time I hear one of their songs in the grocery store.

I'm a fan, but I must say they were the most boring band live when I saw them in '04. I remember there were painfully long pauses between every song.

I had the pleasure of seeing them during the Farewell I tour and it was definitely one of the best shows I've ever seen. All the classic Eagles tunes plus the guys pulled out their solo hits.

While I would urge you not to skip a chance to see them I do realize the steepness or their tickets and I'm sure they are higher priced now than they were several years ago.

So, I would suggest you go out and pick up the Farewell I Tour dvd, find a great surround sound system, grab a 12-pack and enjoy.

I've been thinking of getting that to watch. I've seen clips on YouTube. We have surround sound to use. My dad has "Hell Freezes Over" on VHS and we've enjoyed that many times. I know he would enjoy the Farewell 1 Tour DVD because every time we're at the store, he's always looking at it.

This was a band to scratch off one of my best friend's bucket list. Got shut out on the cheap seats and ended up going and buying nose bleeds from a scalper for like 70 bucks a piece. Face was $85. We could see everything fine, and their sound is crystal clear and they played for 3 hours. I have always been a casual Eagles fan, but loved the live show, so I'm more into them now. Been listening to them alot more.

They do play solo stuff too. I have always wanted to hear Joe Walsh do "Lifes been good" and I got my wish. My Jaw hit the floor man! :P Wasn't expecting them to bust into solo stuff, but their show was very, very good. I do have a friend who has met Don Henley twice, and has said he is not very fan friendly. total bummer to hear, but they put on a great show.

Hotel California is a good album and they have a handful of good songs from prior albums. The Long Run is a horrid, vile album, except for Joe Walsh's song, In the City.

I agree with you on The Long Run. You can hear them breaking up on that album. "In the City" is an awesome song.

Yes it was amazing...can't wait for part 2...
I didn't realize the impact Jackson Browne had on these guys...
I also didn't realize they partied as hard as this doc suggests...

Funny, I dig so many of these songs, but never categorize them as rock for some reason...saw them live in 94 and they were very good.

I am a sucker for documentaries, and this one was as good and candid as they come. Looking forward to tonight's part 2

They were infamous for their partying. I think it was Glenn that said they partied harder than Zeppelin in the '70s. I know, crazy.

You don't categorize them as rock? What do you categorize them as?

This doc was terrific. I loved every minute of it. Glenn is a terrific songwriter, but he can also be a dick when it comes to the business side. Henley, too. Still, I love the Eagles.

I have always thought of them as a country-folk rock outfit, frankly...Already Gone, Take It Easy, Desperado, Tequila Sunrise, One of These Nights, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Lyin Eyes, In The City, New Kid in Town, Love Will Keep Us Alive...all the aforementioned felt more country/folk then true rock-n-roll (Stones, Who, Bob Seger, Queen, Yes, heck even the Beatles)...they certainly fit the country rock dial more appropriately than the classic rock dial, no?

I really like the Eagles. Applaud their longevity. HUGE break there for over a dozen years helped. They certainly partied like rockstars, that's for sure. The docs were great. Frey is a gigantic douche for sure. I personally struggle with labeling them solely rock however...they certainly dipped into that pool on a few tunes Hotel California, Life in the Fast Lane and Get Over it - but they'll alway be (IMO) my Dad's country/folk/rock outfit...

They definitely had that country label on the first couple albums, but by ON THE BORDER they were getting more on the rock side. You can't deny HOTEL CALIFORNIA and THE LONG RUN aren't straight-up rock albums, especially with the addition of Joe Walsh, who was a major contributor to that.
