actually going in for hernia surgery on Tuesday. Mine's in the groin area not in the back though. I didn't even know you could get it down there. When i hear the word hernia i always thought of the back. Got it sometime during the spring but didn't think anything of it cause it didn't really hurt or anything. Right now it still doesn't hurt just more discomforting than anything, except when i move around (like during made in america festival after it hurt) or move stuff. I work in retail so i am lifting stuff constantly.

I'm more worried about afterwards. I know i'm gonna be in more pain after the surgery than before  Won't be able to drive for 5-7 days or go anywhere till at least the weekend (if that). :fp: First few days are gonna suck cause i'll probably just be lying around on the couch and or bed watching tv (well that doesn' sound too bad I guess  ). Also worried the day before, no food or water after midnight :(

All I can say is have fun getting in and out of bed, or off the sofa. No coughing or out of control laughing.

It wasn't the same surgery but I had hand surgery (tendon graft) in June. The no food or drink the night before was no big deal bc my surgery was early in the morning. I wasn't hungry bc I was nervous. I did feel yucky from the anesthesia for the next couple of days and had to stay quiet for a few. I guess you will have to take it easy for awhile. Catch up on some reading or download some bootlegs? I watched pj videos the day after my surgery. It definitely helped! Honestly, bc I'm usually constantly running around it was nice to just stop for a few days and do nothing but relax. Hopefully, any pain you have will be manageable. I did not get along with pain meds. Best wishes to you...

Normally it works immediately but I had a similar experience when I took it. When it hits, it will really hit.

That's great! Speedy recovery! Glad to hear you're feeling OK.

Not driving isn't such a terrible thing. You can discover new books, watch movies that nobody wants to watch with you, guilt trip your friends into doing things for you . . .

Before i could schedule the cardiac catheterization I had to have quite a bit of teeth work completed. It's done. Yay, check those boxes.

On Monday, I called for a cardiac catheterization in NYC, and hope to have it done next week (please, please), but it depends on when the one of two doctors are available. Departments for adults with congenital heart disease are small, so there may not be many doctors that are available. Hopefully, the open heart surgery will be done in October as well.

My doctor in DC wanted me to know that my MRI showed some dysfunction of my heart. I though, Well it's like pound cake, right, once I'm closed up it will bounce right back, right? Nope, that's not the case. I shouldn't feel worse than I do once I recover, but I shouldn't feel better. I actually feel pretty good, so as long as I feel like I do I won't complain.

Sometimes I wonder if I will come out speaking Portuguese, or be inspired to have a new career. That would be cool to have a lot of inspiration to be a jewelry designer, but I guess I should take this process one day at a time.

    Boy, oh, boy.

Yay! I have a date for the cardiac cathererization. It is October 8th.

And, I have an interview for a job next week as a digital manager! Yay!

    Go, me, go!

The best part about surgery is going under. What do you think?

Before the surgery I worry about the surgery, and afterward I have to deal with the most-likely painful recovery.

I remember when I was six years old, which was before my last open heart surgery, I received some medicine to swallow before the surgery. I threw it all up, but they gave me a shot instead. By this time I was so used to shots that I almost requested it. After I had the shot, the next thing I new I was in ICU. Totally different place, and quite different physically because I had all of those tubes.

Same thing happened last month when I had my oral surgery. One minute the doctor is talking to me about Pascack, NJ, and adjusting the needle with the medicine, and the next thing I know I'm in the recovery area.

I love going under. It's like a time travel in a sleep walker type of way.

After November 14th the recovery will be under way, but I wonder where I will float to during the surgery. Kindof cool.

    Anyone else like going under?

going under is such a strange thing. I kind of like it (if not for the huge toll/risk it would be awesome).

I am still recovering from knee surgery, ACL Reconstruction. Tor my ACL Completely and partial MCL tear playing baseball. Had surgery July 8th. Sux because I didnt want to risk GA for this tour as tix were onsale when I was fresh out of surgery.

Still doing physical therapy every day. I wont be 100% until January. it blows.

What type of physical therapy do you do?

For my open heart surgery, the doctor said that walking is good for me. He doesn't expect that I will need to be seen by a physical therapist. The bone near my heart should be completely healed within six months, and my heart should be adjusted from the procedure within a year. I can start to run a month after surgery. That will be a strange day.
