I've been searching for 3 years. i finally landed a trade, and HE ruined it.

Oh, and the whole "after all the people he was gracious too" he was never gracious to me, so that does not apply to me.

I'm not part of a clique, Brian. I treat everyone with respect. He had every right to contact this person. Dragging someone's name and reputation through the mud is immature. I'm going to step away from this now...as I feel like I've involved myself enough & to suggest that I'm an elitist or in a clique has quite frankly, pissed me off. So I'm stepping away & letting it go. Maybe you should do the same.

Get folks to hate Dimi? You say yourself we are a clique. So how does that work? As an outsider who has no idea of who anyone is other than what they post here,it's obvious that Dimi has built up enough good will here that this kind of thing can only reflect poorly on you. Plus, most folks seem to be reasonable, and understand there's 2 sides to every story, and the one that doesn't flame is going to get the benefit of the doubt even without the good will.

Get the person to go through with the trade? If he respected dimi's wishes in the first place how is this going to make him feel better about going through with it anyway?

I hope you get the album you want, but it's time to give this one up, and move this to PM and stop bumping.

(note I am not taking a side, nor do I think poorly of you. You are upset. You have a right to feel how you want to feel. Just like Dimi has a right to express his feelings on what he gave away out of his own kindness. I just think it can be handled better.) good luck with your Grail.

Nobody took anyone's grail away..I debated long and hard over whether or not I even wanted to trade..And when I realized it was going to offend someone I pulled out of the offer plain and simple..It's not like I was super happy to be parting with the LP.. I absolutely LOVE this record, but my record player got destroyed by some stupid asshole, punishing ME for he and my sister's divorce, on top of the fact I'd been looking for that particular poster for a while.. but a friendship means more to me than any possesion.. sorry it didn't work out, but I value the person over the item..

What's the point in a giveaway if it comes with conditions attached? Ones that are not even stated.

I see the guys point entirely. It's a bizarre thing to do as after all why did it even matter to D anymore?

But opening it here was not the thing to do. A Pm would have worked - even if there was no reply.

If the item was given away for free, why would you care? I've given away dozens & dozens of Pearl Jam items for many, many year's (not just 3 year's here), and I've seen the items by those users sold on eBay, traded, sold here on the boards etc.. Once it leaves my hands & is given to somebody else, they can do what they wish. What they want to do. I've made them happy from the start, now they can do what they please with the item.

Don't worry about it B. Someday you'll receive your holy grail.

Sorry to hear all this happened... I agree with you that Dimitris, while usually a very easy-going and generous soul around here, was out of line in this particular situation. I personally would not trade something I was gifted, but that's my own decision - not someone else's to make on my behalf, or to influence my decision on the matter. I also would not have a problem with someone trading something I gave them as a gift - as long as both parties receive something they love, I think that's great!

Oh... and it went public, because I was absolutely beyond angry about this.

Many of you know that Binaural on vinyl is the ONE single PJ item I wanted dearly. I have been trying since 2008 to find one for a trade, or a good price since I don't have much $ to spend.

I even went to Dimtri's last year asking him to keep a look out for me.... so he was aware of it.

And yesterday, he decided to not let me have it, he saw the trade was taken to private messages, and because he is on here all the time, he saw the thread... and HAD to react immediately.
