:D you absolutely summarized the show perfectly. grant was truly amazing and the balance of humor chat and performance made for a wonderful night. i was swooning at "i am mine" back to back with "thumbing my way" like the riot act album, then "just breathe"
it was a different beast and these songs were perfect for this show.
oh and i was loving PORCH live.
    thank you Eddie and all.
It's 3:53am Pacific time. I just got home from driving from Portland to Seattle. Boy am I tired but I want to share some things. First off, the poster is really cool. I really dig the Speed Racer theme and it looks awesome in person.

The Arlene Schnitzer hall is an old Paramount theater that's been renovated and boy is it beautiful inside. What a great place to see Ed and Glen. I was really excited to hear Walking The Cow as the opener and it just got better from there. But I'm skipping ahead.

Glen Hansard is as amazing as everyone who's seen him has been saying he is. His first song was Pennies in The Fountain and in the middle of the song, he clarified that he's saying "Pennies" and not "panties" which was hilarious. This led to some stories about a particular gentleman's club he frequented last night and being amazed that it was "that easy" and then mimed showing off the goods and comparing to an Irish girl pulling back her sleve slightly. Really good set and enjoyed seeing him.

Ed was spot on. I believe there was really only one flub that I can think of. Blue, Red, and Grey was awesome and after that and Walking the Cow, I felt like we were in for a treat. Some other highlights include him describing Chris Cornell trying to make the ukulele "sound evil" ending in Chris "puking off the balcony" . . . "I guess the uke won" This and a story about a guy who got his penis cut off by his wife and then destroyed in a garbage disposal and Ed reading the guy identified as "John Doe" and worrying that it was THE John Doe.
Long Nights, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, ARC, Tonight You Belong to Me (first time this tour I believe) made for a very memorable night. It'll be difficult to top at the 2 Seattle shows. Time for bed. :D

Oh and our 10Club Seats were front row Mezzinine and afforded a wonderful view of the stage.
all is as it will be, as it should be

Overall I thought the show was killer. The only disappointment, and I mean this was only a slight disappointment, for me was my tenclub seats. I was on the floor in row AA which I believe is row 27 and that was the farthest I have had to sit for a show since I joined the club back in 1997. I knew they were random going in, so it really didn't detract from the show too much.

Dude, what are you talking about? Those are great seats at the Schnitz. Also, your profile says you joined in 2006.

  • What a great night. Thanks 10c for the awesome seats. All the people at the show were awesome. It was nice to see EV more laid back and relaxed. Although it didn't have the intense energy that a pearl jam concert has, it was good just the same. I loved it. Like fine wine, I think Eddie gets better with age. Loved the poster too, already took it in today to have it framed. To all the fans who get to see EV in Seattle this weekend you are in for a real treat.

While it didn't have the intensity of a PJ show, it had a campfire, summer's night vibe that I really appreciated, especially since I was able to share it with my wife. She doesn't like going to PJ shows because the crowds and drunkenness are bit much for her. But she loved last night.

  • I agree with you bicyclejoe, it was a nice change from some of the craziness you get from a PJ show. It felt a lot more intimate. I liked that I could actually hear what Eddie was saying when he was talking. I liked the fact that it was just him and a guitar. Too cool.
  • Holy Crap! What an amazing night. We were 'upgraded' to -front- row, no, scratch that - we were upgraded to 'the pit' row -1; the stage was my ottoman.

Eddie gave my wife two of his guitar picks personally.

I felt my soon-to-be-born son kick in the womb for the first time, too! Ed was singing Arc and apparently my son (5 months in the womb) got all excited.

After seeing Glen perform I was a little nervous how Ed could top that - I am an idiot.

Wow, just wow. My wife and I are still reveling in it.

Thank you Ed and thank you 'ticket fairy', it was a truly amazing night.

    1. Awesome poster.
    2. Golden State with Corin Tucker was brilliant.
    3. Thanks Scnitz ushers for being so vigilant about forcing people to keep the phone's off during the show, especially the technology addicts who kept trying to sneak them out to record after being warned repeatedly (I would have thrown them out after two strikes).
    4. Except for the frizzy-haired woman standing up and trying unsuccessfully to skake sexily in the front row of Dress Circle D, blocking people's view behind her, the audience members were respectful of each other.
    5. Eddie had a fantastic way of shutting up the meatheads shouting out song requests: "Yeah, scream all you want. But you see, my dressing room in the back has this big sign that says 'conductor's suite.' The means I'm in charge. Don't worry yourself, I've got you taken care of." (The Schnitz is home to the Oregon Symphony and Ed was in the conductor's suite back stage.)
    6. I'm buying Glen's album
    7. I was very happy with my 10 Club seats (dress circle D, fourth row, looking right down on Ed)
    8. 2 1/2 solo set
    9. Great stories from Ed
    10. I want that rug.

The rug tied the stage together.
    Be sound.

The show was amazing...thought the crowd was a little flat. The quiet was great when it needed to be..a thumbs up for that...but really at one point between sets the cheering almost stopped. I Saw his Ric on stage at one point and thought we were gonna get Man of the Hour but it was not to be. Maybe if not so many people were taking flash photos of Ed he might have played a couple more.

Loved the set list, loved Glen. Had a great night. It was a fabulous end to an Oregon holiday.

If I had a disappointment, it was of my own making: I thought for sure that Eddie would sing This Land is Your Land, since it was Woody Guthrie's birthday.

Hey to each their own, you think row 27 is great, I think they are ok. Yes the profiles show when you joined the board, not when you joined the fan club. My member # is 167XXX and I joined in 1997.
  • Simply amazing! This was my 7 year old daughter's first show ever, and IMO it was perfect!
First off, I would love to thank Eddie for stopping and turning to shake her hand when he got off the bus at the venue. She's short (she's 7, so of course she is, ha ha!) and couldn't see over the people that were waiting there when he de-bussed, so I picked her up so she could at least see him. He was on his way in, but turned, came back, shook her hand, and asked her how she was doing. That made her day! She keeps saying she now has an "Eddie hand".
We were in the orchestra section, row AA, and of course I would have loved to be closer, but it's a small enough that we still had a great view of the stage, and the sound in there was awesome.
We sat behind a couple of other 10C-ers, and I really enjoyed talking with them. The gentleman right on front of me (I'm sorry, I forgot both your name and your 10C handle), was concerned about making sure my daughter could see around him, and didn't seem to mind that I had her standing on the back of his seat once everyone was standing. Thank you for being so polite and friendly!
Blueflare, I really enjoyed visiting with you!
There was a gentleman waiting at the front of the venue who had flown in from (I believe) Boston, that I spoke with while waiting to get our tickets. I sure hope you got a ticket and were able to get in! I didn't spot you again, so hopefully your trip wasn't in vain.
    As for the actual set....perfection!
There were a handful of songs that my daughter and I wanted to hear, and Eddie delivered!
Glen was great, and I will be buying his album. My daughter was cracking up about the panties vs. pennies confusion. She kept asking me why he threw panties in the fountain :-)
Anyhow, great, great night. Thank you Eddie, 10C, and fellow concert goers!!

Greetings. Oh my goodness what a great show. Since I use a wheelchair I knew that my seats would suck. The other times I went to this venue the wheelchair seats were the last row. After we picked up our tickets we went down the block for a few drinks without looking at the tickets. I was with my adult daughter and we have gone to too many shows to count. We are both used to te seat problems. We went to the last row ready to settle in to what we knew would be a awesome experence. I gave my ticket to the usher and she said follow me to your seats. Well she kept going down the asle closer and closer to the stage until she stoppped in row C and said enjoy the show. My daughter and me stood there for a few with our jaws open. What a suprise to be in row 3, fucking ROW 3. The show would of been incredable no matter where we sat. Having that experence with my daughter was truly pricless. I want to give a LOUD SHOUT OUT to the 10C for hooking us up. Thank you!! :D:D

You are welcome! I'm very happy you and your daughter had a great time. And it was very nice to meet and talk to you both. Glad your daughter was able to see around me. :D The whole night was fantastic and amazing. And a big Thank You to Blueflare. I'm so happy you ended up with my ticket. It was a pleasure to meet you and I appreciate the personal advice you gave me. Can't wait to watch Animal House when I get back home. ;)

I met some great people after the show while waiting for Eddie to come out to his bus. I met a kid who flew ALL THE WAY from Peru just to see Eddie at this show... So a couple of nice PJ fans called over George Webb and got the kid hooked up with an EV guitar pick. I also met a badass from Chicago whose first show was the Indio Shoe Throw show. I'm saying this in hopes that they read this-I wish I'd gotten their names.

First Eddy show ever, went with my brother and fiance. It was incredible. My first time ever seeing Glen Hansard and all of us are in, I'm going directly to itunes after this to get some. I couldnt believe this show, it was so incredible, the venue, the people, the music. Just special.

My only regret, and I dont even know if it was truly one, was rocking my mohawk (can only pull that out about once a year due to work). I didnt realize the venue was as formal as it was. IT was so much fun though I forgot about it!
