The unsustainable will eventually cut the floor out from underneath itself. It's time to start thinking very differently about how we do things. Limited resources and the effects of peak oil and climate change will make most of the arguments about cutting this and that moot in due time. Learn some basic skills, participate in local economy, learn to live more simply. And as my wise and aged father always tells me- HAVE FUN!

Very astute. Don't forget what happens when the ocean reaches an unsustainable level of CO2. Live simply so that others may live. And have fun.

    Peace.

    It's still not enough.

Maybe they should consider areas that affect our budget the most. Military, Social Security, Medicaid. Then I'll know they are serious.

I don't understand cutting SS ?how could they cut something I have paid into my whole working life (over 30 yrs) does that mean I'm just assed out or do they have something in mind to make it right ?
and I agree with getting out of other countries but we will always need a strong military.

I do not ever expect to get my money back paid into SS. The way I see it, it's a done deal for anyone in their 30's.

They could cut every program not called Medicaid, Social Security and Military and there would still have a deficit.

Why does the USA have to spend as much on military as the rest of the world combined? Why can't it be DEFENSE spending instead of 'invading other countries' spending?

i am with you man, i am so fucking sick of military spending. and what do we get for that money anyway? we have no problem with spending money to kill people, yet i am called a socialist for wanting that money to actually help save lives and help people live...

how do you fund the legalisation of pot? just make it legal... tick the right box and sign off on it.. surely thatll need as much funding as buying a sandwich.

First thing to "cut" is the $1.6 TRILLION of bonds that the Federal Reserve. Why this is not talked about more reaffirms the incompetence of our congress and media.

Next would be to bring home the bulk of our troops from around the world. This includes all private military contractors as well.
