Wish I could have stayed and drank with some new friends tonight, but, work meetings start at 7 am tomorrow.

So many great things about this show. Brief notes before I get off the train.

The poster is a play on the cranes in oakland/SF bay which lucas used for design inspiration for star wars, if people don't know that story. Great idea for a print.

    Edit - read here about the poster inspiration ... http://www.slashfilm.com/did-oaklands-c ... -revealed/

As light last night was on covers, tonight was drenched in them. For two shows these sets were so different, and complimented each other fantastically.

We got the Hunter S Thompson story ... and guess what, it involved mind altering substances.

Really funny story about bus rides in the south and g-strings made of duct tape ... and the bus ride ed had to the venue today.

The full Waiting on a Friend was spectacular. Glen supplied the ohhh ohhh ohhhs at the end of the song, or tried to with a laugh. Needed ghe crowds help.

Long Road ... got a little dusty in there, if you know what I mean.

More later, need to get home.

Absolutely amazing. Up there with the best EV shows I've seen. He was in perfect form and really feeling it. The man has never been better.

Walking the Cow and Millworker - staples on his first tour, but rarely played on the Oz tour or so far this tour!

Only a few Uke Album songs tonight too!

Had a great time once again. Picked up tickets late in the day, so Night 2 was sort of impromptu for the wife and I.
Eddie and Glen were on point. It's such a unique experience to hear a musician like Eddie Vedder tell a childhood story, which involved borrowing his Uncle John's records and then to see Uncle John sitting three rows in front of us. To get a different perspective on such a musical icon like Eddie over the last two nights has been a real treat.
I actually think Night 1 was better as a whole. The crowd tonight was weird. A lot of people had no idea what was going on – rarely even clapping at certain points. Eddie implored the audience to sing a few times (during Betterman, specifically) and it was quite half-hearted. Oh well.
Long Road, Parting Ways, Walking the Cow, Millworker, No Ceiling, If you want to sing out, sing out were among some of the highlights for me.

Thanks again, Eddie for such a wonderful experience.

Unbelievable show. I actually thought tonight was light years better than yesterday. For some reason Eddie just seemed rushed and a little off yesterday, at least from my perspective. This was my fifth show in the last seven nights, and whereas yesterday was my least favorite, tonight was right at the top for me. Yes, Santa Barbara had a better setlist (I'm still seething over the dumbshits who partly ruined that show for me), and Los Angeles has the more enthusiastic crowd (honestly, the Oakland crowd was pretty weak both nights), but something about tonight just felt really special. Eddie was completely ON, and even the songs he played last night (and those he played at some time during the other four shows, period) just felt more intense tonight. He was in total story telling mode as well, and it was easy to see he was really enjoying himself and letting loose.

Highlights were far too many to list, but I have to say Walking the Cow made a very welcome return, and Waiting on a Friend was an unexpected treat. I loved hearing the slowed down Betterman a couple nights on this tour, but what the hell, the classic Betterman with the Save It for Later tag tonight was mindblowing. And, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but Eddie finally played the banjo (!) for If You Want to Sing Out. This show also had my favorite versions of Arc, Porch, Off He Goes, and Sometimes from among the other shows I had seen on this tour.

Finally, deep respect to Glen Hansard. Best opening act I've ever seen. It takes a lot for an opener to draw a crowd and keep them enthralled, but Glen managed to do so every single night. And when he plucked the first chords to Hairshirt to open up his set tonight, it was a personal goosebumps moment that I'll never forget. He mentioned after he played it that it was the first song he ever cried to...I wish I could have told him that he just brought this grown man to tears.

Long drive back to Southern California tomorrow. It's kind of hard to accept the fact that my Eddie Vedder week is over, but it will go down as one of the great experiences of my life. 5 shows, 11+ hours of live Vedder, almost 150 songs (57 different tracks by my count)...what a week.

I love to see reviews about people being moved like this by Glen & Eddie - thank you for sharing walkunafraid :D

I have always hoped Ed would cover If You Want to Sing Out. What a happy song and I imagine Ed's voice did wonders with it. Congrats to those who were there to hear it in person. You lucky bastards!

No way! I wish there was a bootleg of it. I was busy with a sick child during that tour so didn't catch any of the shows.

I was just thinking the same thing. But, you know, I might like the set list of Night 1 just a tad better. I know last night had Off He Goes and You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, but we had Immortality, Small Town and Wishlist. We also had the epic sheep story too

That said, I wish I went to BOTH nights!! Ours was epic. Last night was epic too, I bet :D

I just wanted to hear Millworker again. I got it in Berkeley a few years back, but once again would have been nice. No doubt night 1 was great. Both nights in fact are!

Tonight was one of the best solo shows i've seen! Both nights were a perfect fit - like yin and yang!

NPR was right on the mark when they described Eddie as an, "incurably effusive anecdotist."

I laughed and cried during tonight's set. I lost a friend to suicide last week, and he was the second friend I lost to that method of death in the past four months. Needless to say I was feeling quite sad last week, so much so that I could not muster up the engergy for the Santa Barbara show, and I ended up letting my TC tickets go to waste last minute. Vedder's shows the past two nights were carthartic and reminded me that life can be fucking beautiful!

oh yeah, it was also pretty cool when the basement bartender at the paramount insisted my drink was on the house because he felt like we fans seemed like such a nice group of people!
