I was having a beautiful chicken dinner with my family, while conversing about our days my daughters starting asking me about the (Pearl Jam) posters that grace our dining room. As we were talking about our favorite ones (throughout our house) I noticed that there seemed to be alot of GW themed posters.
I remember Eddie in Columbus (OH) a few years ago saying "We need a little color in the white house".
Now knowing Eddie and the boys voted D (Obama), Do you think we will see any Obama themed posters?
What do you think?

I will put this BACK on the the tailgate of my vehicle for the next election
  • Maybe?

I wouldn't be surprised to see them playing at more than a few benefits, really.

At the risk of stating the obvious; Obama didn't start these wars, he inherited them from the previous incumbent. And if he'd pulled all the troops out the day he took office it would have done more harm than good.

    what?

no, we are not rewriting history right now. i am not allowing it.

can you imagine the outrage from the right in this country if he had immediately disengaged and brought everyone home? i think they accused all anti-war democratic candidates going back to the elections of 2004 AND 2008 of wanting to "CUT AND RUN"...

further proof that the man is always wrong in the eyes of those in the gop...no matter what he decides on any issue, he is just flat out wrong...

funny how the majority of americans want the wars stopped now, when prior to january 2009 the right accused obama of wanting to cut and run and warned all of us in the american public how "dangerous" and "ill advised" it would be to leave iraq and afghanistan at the time. and don't give me the excuse of "we can't afford it" because people against the war all along have been saying that, yet the pentagon and the war effort ALWAYS got it's money. ahead of all other commitments, the military got it's fucking funding. every time..
back before 2009 defunding the wars was never ever an option because defunding the wars would not be "supporting the troops".....does everyone remember that one??

so it is not obama who is the ONLY warmonger to have held that office....

Thats a good question. There was a lot of Bush bashing for awhile, but I feel he deserved it.
But I havent heard much about Eddies political rants since Obama. Maybe its just not as 'newsworthy' as opposition was in the Bush era.

    What posters had GW themes?
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

02/11/03 - Entertainment Centre: Sydney, Australia is one of them hanging in my Dining room. I noticed a little subtle jab, this one containing a GW on the back of the Tie. I know several of them them had monkeys on them, as well as some with this face/mad TV.
Its funny how they are so quite with their opinions/art now that the person they voted for is in charge.

don't forget about the NEOCON series, which are IMO the best posters...

and i do feel that protraying obama as a monkey in a poster is not going to happen for several reasons.

maybe they are not as outspoken becuase let's face it, it could be worse...mccain and palin could be in charge.

you may find it funny now that they are less vocal, the same as i find it funny how republicans are just recently "outraged" about the wars and deficit spending...

point being that we did not "go it alone" and start a coalition of the willing. we were asked for help, we helped and relinqueshed the leadership role. we are not occupying libya.

i will bet that people would be complaining if we hadn't gotten involved there, because nothing is more important than delivering freedom at the barrel of a gun, right?

Or further bankrupting your country by obligating resources with money that doesn't exist, right?

Troops may not be on the ground in Libya, but acts of war and aggression against another sovereign nation are still being conducted by the United States' involvement.

Those are great posters. Do you have them?
There are probably alot of poster I am forgetting, Several of the DC's that I have, are also jabs (reaper).
I am not saying that they should protray obama as a moneky, I am just wondering why they are not addressing politics anymore (in the form of posters) as it was such a drive for their music/art for many years. Yet we are still facing the same terrible decision making, etc.

There's probably a lot to make fun of, but I think it was just easier to make fun of Bush. He really had that aura of being on a pedestal. Knock him off that pedestal, its fun.

Now we're in many of the same predicaments, if not worse, and its just not as funny maybe. Then again we're only a few years into Obama.. Bush had eight years to lie and act like a buffoon. Maybe we'll get some posters knocking Obama if he makes it into a second term?

i have the cheney one framed and hanging on my wall and i have the ashcroft and rummy ones in a tube. it is not worth me framing and hanging them if i don't have all of them, besides custom framing is ridiculously expensive.
i really like the reaper one too, but i don't have that one.

i think they still care deeply about politics and the way things are, and once they find someone who might be a better candidate they might throw their support behind them instead. it is not an election year yet. also i think it might depend on the artist and their inspirations for what they are creating for each poster.

I hear ya on the custom framing... I went on a poster frenzy for a couple years and was fortunate enough to go to a bunch of shows and get posters. I probably have around 80 or so, but only have 15-20 framed.
The others have been in Tubes since 03"...
Its is extremely expensive to frame posters. Sometime (where I live) Micheal's or Hobby Lobby will have a 50% off frame sale, but with the mat and size of frame it still ends up being like $60-$80.
Whats your favorite poster you have framed?
I never thought about it being tied in with election timing, I wonder if the bulk of their GW posters coincided with election time?
PJ /EV caring deeply about politics is what prompted me to start this, Thats always seemed to play an important role.

But let's be honest, it's not PJ making those posters with the exception of a select few (ed ved seattle) ... but I wonder if anyone in PJ approves them?

I have the eddie poster and don't remember the obama button.

I thought I read somewhere ( Ames Poster Book) that the band has final say/approval and also give input/ideas.

Yeah, I kind of remember reading that. Makes sense.

Just had a friend gift me a nice framed '06 Gorge poster (evil kneivel one) and it looks really nice. 8-)
I have around 50 posters but they are all framed in poster tubes. Too expensive to frame them.
