Looks like an awesome setlist, Long Road and Rockin' in the Free World.

I can still feel the experience of being center stage with my arms on the stage for the entire last 2 hours of the show at the Tower.

How did Falling Slowly sound? They killed it in Philly.

Hope everybody had a good time!

    Shannon

PS- Anyone have an extra poster for me in trade for the Philly poster???

An awesome show. Had a totally different feel than Wed night in Long Beach. I thought the first half was perhaps a tiny bit sluggish but from Just Breathe on, it was off the charts. I couldn't believe how loud the Wiltern was during the encores, particularly Rockin' In The Free World and Hard Sun.

Tons of celebrities in the crowd. The trio of Unthought Known, Immortality, and Arc was worth the price of admission alone and then some. Having followed Springsteen around for years, was glad to see Open All Night and he did a great job on it. I thought the 2008 solo tour was good but this BLOWS it away. Tremendous stuff.

Great show...thought the crowd was really good for the most part. What celebrities were there?
  • John FREAKING Densmore! Highlight of the night for sure.

From Just Breathe on the show was unreal. Not that the part before wasnt great too it just took on a whole new level. Crowd was way into it.

Falling Slowly gave me chills. Just a great fucking song and its awesome that Ed sings it too.

Funny story..fan club tickets were 4th row Lodge for us. Just before Eddie takes the stage an older man with long white hair came and sat down. He was wearing a Sgt. Pepper style long golden robe jacket..I remember thinking..not many people could pull that look off anymore but he can. Later he sat down on stage and Eddie introduced him as John Densmore from the Doors. I had to laugh cause that explained the jacket. Everyone around us was like, "Hey that's the dude who was sitting right THERE!! " So I guess even John Densmore got shitty Ten Club balcony seats Lol. He was awesome though..a real special guest.

Amazing setlist - highlights for me included Long Road, Immortality, Open All Night, Rockin in the Free World, and Falling Slowly. Didn't sounds like RITFW was on the setlist, but Ed was impressed with the crowd (they had ditched their seats and pushed up to the front of the stage sometime around Wishlist) and decided 'it needed to be added'. Betterman was the lullaby version which was awesome. Falling Slowly with Glen was also amazing as their voices meld together nicely - I believe Ed was singing the upper register stuff. Great set, great performance. I remember seeing him in 2008 and he was a little more reactive to fans on stage, sometimes bothered by them - he was more vocal about people shouting at him. Now when people shout at him he says 'I can't hear anything up here' and blows it off, and that seems to work better. He started to tell a story about smoking pot and learning how to tie knots which, of course, got a huge rise out of the crowd. Some dude in the back yells 'WE LOVE KNOTS' and Ed sorta stops and laughs and goes 'did he just say fuck knots? I can't hear anything up here'. Not too much random shouting after that, thankfully.

My Tenclub seats were Mezz, Row J, and I know there were other fanclub members seated even further behind us. I don't know how the tickets are allocated for Tenclub, but that was definitely the furthest from the stage I've been at a PJ event. Otherwise, amazing show, amazing performance.

I thought LB was perfect. Last night surpassed it tenfold. I got to hear all the songs I was hoping to hear after reading previous fanviews - Light Today, the much-talked about Betterman and Open All Night. To hear Porch, Wishlist (with John Densmore!) Unthought Known and Long Road with just Ed on guitar was beauiful.

Now let me say - I've got a shitty 10c number (430,XXX) due to my own fault of letting it lapse, so I wasn't expecting miracles. But I just about fainted when the lovely young man manning the table looked at my tickets and said, "You've got awesome seats - second row center!!!" OMFG! In my 20 years of seeing this band, I've never ever been this lucky - ever!

When Ed and Glen sang Sleepless Nights, everyone in my area was literally drawn to their feet. How could you not when Ed and Glen walk to the very end of the stage, Ed motions the crowd to hush and they start to sing without amps. To see their facial expressions as they're singing made the song even more intense for me.

At the second encore, we all rushed to the stage and Ed said, "I'm sure this place won't like us wrecking it" or words to that effect. So there I am, pressed up against the stage, 5 feet from Ed, watching every word leave his mouth and seeing every chord strum as he's pumping out Rockin' In The Free World. He finishes the song and I couldn't believe my eyes - Ed is walking straight towards me. He reaches down, grabs my hand and places his pick in my hand. I can't believe lil ol' me got Ed's pick, especially with the blonde bombshell standing next to me - I mean seriously - it just doesn't happen!!!!

I'm sorry for gushing about getting a pick placed in my hand - I know it may appear a bit psycho-fan. But for this nerdy plain Jane, 45-year-old fan who doesn't really have much of a life outside of following my band when I can scrape up the funds to do so, it was THE MOST incredible night of my otherwise boring life. I'm on a high that I don't want to end :-D

From the bottom of my heart, Ed and 10c, thank you for giving me a truly memorable evening :)

Wiltern show picked up where LB left off. His voice is much stronger at the start of the show.

"I know there are many entertainment choices here in LA and I appreciate you coming here tonight"

Audience was very pumped from the first song. Unusually rowdy for an LA crowd.
Maybe because the bars in the lobby where well stocked and served by professionals unlike LB and SD!

Only fly in the ointment is no Doors song with Densmore a la Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in 1994.

Eddie is running on all cylinders now can't wait for tonight!

Happy for the rest of you lucky people who got to see this show too. John Densmore?!! How do you even get a guest that cool?

This show was off the chain. Blown away by his ability to capture the energy of rockin' songs in an acoustic setting.

Would have been a lot better though if I wasn't at the top of the damn theater. Hosed AGAIN by 10C on tickets. 16 years of service doesn't get you dick in this club.

the curtain rises for the first encore and there is a grey haired man with ed...now from where i was sitting in the way back, my old eyes were having a tough time making out who it was...graham nash?? no, wait that's john densmore!

    john friggin' densmore!!! :shock: :mrgreen::mrgreen:

i've been a huge doors fan since forever so this was a special treat...loved long road and wishlist...such a cool moment

immortality....damn...first time i've heard it live and it was amazing...love that song even more now 8-)
sleepless nights unplugged was a treat...and the crowd more or less behaved

ed came out for 2nd encore and was gonna do hard sun but he was really digging the crowd which i think shocked him...i know it shocked me...for an la crowd, they were really good...so he decided to do ritfw and damn it rocked! glen & densmore came out and played tambourine & drum respectively...crowd was was having a blast and hard sun left us wanting it to continue...seemed like ed didn't want to leave

early on ed told a story about after Roskilde he was in a bad, dark place...he was by himself out at his place in hawaii trying to process it all...occasionally he'd look in the corner at his uke and it was talking to him saying play me...and ed told it to fuck off (btw, someone help me if this isn't correct...my memory sucks :P )

so one day he's in a store and buys a book on how to tie knots...yep, grunge god eddie vedder is reading a book on how to tie knots  ...and he's practicing tying knots....well he gets to page 29 and it's the how to tie a noose page...it gives him pause but hey it's a knot that needs to be learned...in fact, he likes making the noose...in so much that for fun he decides he'll have some fun with friends and take a picture of himself with it around his neck...he mails the pic to a friend and about a week later ed gets a frantic call from same friend saying he's on the next plane...ed's like no i'm ok...that was a week ago...i've moved on :lol:

back to back great shows by ed...i hoping tonight he'll top them both!

Totally Agree!! Congrats to YOU for an awesome experience!! 45 is awesome - plain jane or whatever ... you are alive and living the moments! I'm 49 - wish I was back at 45! : ) Great set list. So glad you got "Light Today" along with "Without You" - such beautiful songs. Always so wonderful to read these amazing moments. Thanks for sharing! :D

That's awesome for you but it's the kind of thing that really pisses me off. My number is right near 100,000 and I get crappy seats for EVERY show. Last PJ gig in L.A. they slammed me extreme left (against the freaking wall with a monitor right in my ear).

Last night was awesome. Was up in the way top tier and forgot to bring my binoculars! ;)

So glad we got Immortality, along with Soon Forget (LOVED IT), happy to get Unthought Known, FAR BEHIND and GUARANTEED!!!

Like someone said above, it was SOOOO LOUD for RITFW and PORCH and everyone around me was enjoying it (the phone user in front had already left, naturally) :D And Sleepless Nights w/o mics was a treat. The crowd quieted down pretty well for that--then a spurt of rowdy--and then quiet again.

On to the Bowl tonight! Can't wait to see what Ed has in store for us there. Saw him wipe his face a few times from the heat so the cool outdoors will be a nice change for him I am sure.

P.S. Nice to see familiar faces and to meet Rob (Imalive) and his wife, Codie. Very nice people and enjoyed chatting with them a while before the show.

Great show. Went to pick up my 10club tickets. Showed my ID and was told there were no tickets. I said I have my confirmation. As I am pulling the email out he says, oh here you go. Don't know if he worked for 10 club. I would have liked to have had the tickets sealed in a envelope or at least been able to see the envelope with my name on it. I'm sure I received my proper tickets but the guy in that tinted windowed booth had a lot of control. Anyways loved the show and to people complaining about tickets I feel your disapproval is valid. Random in my opinion is evenly staggered throughout the venue. Seems it should have been worded a bit differently in the tour announcement. Maybe a few good seats and the rest in the rafters.

SH10924, I *totally* get what you're saying and anyone else who got less-than-ideal seats. Believe me - I've had my share of time in the nosebleed section when I had my original 10c number (198,XXX) and couldn't understand why. I never get tickets through 10c anymore because of my crap number but went for it this time thinking with a smaller venue no seat would be bad.

As I said, I understand why it'd piss you off and I sincerely hope I didn't come off as gloating. I know I was just super-duper lucky and for that I'm grateful because I know it'll never happen again.

Bummer you got stuck up top with 10c tix. Sorry to hear that. I don't understand why they can't secure the best seats for all 10c members. I must have lucked out with my tix (229xxx member #). 10c hooked me up with row N seats, dead center and on the floor. I was really happy with our seats. Nice people around us too. Great show. I can't agree more with everyone...magnificent show! We simply had a blast. Seats at the center and under the balcony and it really didn't affect the show at ALL. It was just amazing! It was our first show in LA, and I hope they are all like this. I wasn't sure what to expect from an "LA crowd," but I got to say it was a great crowd. The only down side from the night was an idiot after the show yelling at his girlfriend. Really pathetic stuff. I'm guessing this woman needs to listen to "Betterman" a bit closer. Aside from this, the night was flawless! And the venue, WOW! What a place! Art-deco at its best! Almost gave me chills walking in (maybe because it reminded me a bit of Bioshock :D ).

Oh, and as far as celebrities...we spotted Chad Lowe afterwards in the lobby. Guess it can't be a complete LA experience without a sighting, right?
