I dont know if everyone outside US feels the same way, but when they are working in the new album I rather that they dont do tours so they can have more time to work for the new album.

For me, PJ is all about the touring, with the albums just an excuse to play new songs live.

So, needless to say, I disagree. And I'll fourth the "shut up" request. :)

in 2005, they did a mini tour in Canada along with a few US dates, then they recorded 'Avocado.' Seems like playing a few shows is a good precursor for a new album.

Well can we at least make it till the 30th? Or the 1st? I mean 5 more days isn't going to effect the record.

  • if you don't want them to tour you should just never go to a show and only listen to boots. the whole point of music is the live experience. true story.

You are the only one that feels that way!
  • The more albums PJ release, the more exciting & diverse the bootlegs get. But the tours with no album to promote are the most exciting.

The canada 05 and this 08 one have made for my favourite bootlegs, so overall I think PJ do a perfect mix between touring and studio! :D

    Complete lunacy!

I consider Vitalogy to be one of their best albums, and that was almost entirely written on the road!

    you arent that bright obviously...
Bands do tours like this prior to going into the studio in order to be warmed up and in good flow for when they DO hit the studio...

But, what if their new album is new songs recorded live, onstage... sort of like Neil Young did with 'Times Fade Away' and 'Rust Never Sleeps'?

You're joking, right?? I am also a Grateful Dead and Phish fan, and when I got heavily into those bands I could see them all the time, somewhere in New England. I fell in love with Pearl Jam in 2006 and had to fly to Chicago to see them again after over a year of dying for a live performance, obsessively watching DVDs and listening to new songs. It was terrible. (ok, it was great, but a pale second to live shows)

jesus. you kids need to calm down.

Pearl Jam have been touring for a while now. hope it stops soon cause i too want them to concentrate on the new album.

They gots to earn a crust. Making an album is almost profitless these days, but touring rakes in the cash. So I tink we will see many more short tours with about 12 dates or so, possibly two every year or there abouts. Sure they have said this themselves in many interviews over the last two years.
