Should of been WAY cheaper seeing that these were given away for free?
It's funny, promotional items are given away for free by the record labels to radio stations, to the band, to local record stores etc.. but later flipped by user's who are not a fan of the band (some are, maybe) to get the highest profit of the item. Those people receiving these freebies must be feeling pretty good inside receiving these freebies & flipping them for so very much. *clapping hands
D but you know thats a way of the world right?
after all why is a reeenk roink $2500 these days?
why is record collecting so popular? because of these quirky hard to find items that because they are hard to find command a price.
You'll not get many recipients thinking 'oh this was free...i should give it away myself'.
It doesnt work like that. Maybe a hardcore to hardcore PJ fan would help each other out, but they are not so common. There is a number of people even on this board who claim to be such people, but when it comes down to it they are opportunist flippers but use different names. People who only wanna help themselves out. They are in every walk of life.
Sony dont care - they make the items purely for the promotional value, and they get that. and the crazy resale values are a thing that have existed for years
But take this item. It wasnt strictly speaking a promo item as such. Otherwise we'd have seen them quite often in the last 2 and a bit years. Take the blue fixer, its rare but we;ve seen them. This one is different, and a piece to give out to friends and close assocaites working on the release. I dont see a problem in those people selling it if they need the money or dont collect. Its better in a well valued collection than sitting on a shelf.
but of course we would all love to live in Utopia where free means free
The comment it was cheap was based on its rarity. To me common sense, given a blue fixer sells for $1000 - still. Its not as rare as this first ever sale on ebay as this vinly yet it was half the price. The only reason i can think of is people dont see the value unless the set is complete and I understand that line of thought entirely. Just expected a much bigger selling price.....0
