did u sit in their seats once they left -- dumbasses like that do not ruin my fun

no - as I said in a later post, no one could ruin my night. It was awesome. They were only 1 seat in front of me - I was fine where I was. My husband told me they left early, at that point I was up near the stage.

  • Probably going to get yelled at, but I want to share a different perspective: Believe me, I am happy to be in the building. I pick up my 10c tickets and, like most people picking up their tickets, I am hoping to get row a or b (which was row 3 & 4 in dc.) Part of the excitement of the shows is not knowing where your seats are going to be until the day of the show. There is always the hope (which I love that 10c provides this for me every show) I am going to be in one of those rows in the center. When I see I am in a row other than this, yes, I admit I am disappointed. It is not due to a sense of entitlement or being spoiled (though 10c does spoil us.) It is due to having the hope gone. I am still happy to be going to the show. I just know that from the further back rows I have very little chance of catching a pick, drinking from Ed's wine bottle, or getting a tambourine. And, yes, I realize I get to hear a great show and I don't have to have a pick to enjoy the show. But for that little bit of time that the hope has vanished, I, personally, will be a little disappointed. I am not mad at 10c or think I am entitled to the front row. And, quite possibly, the other people you perceive to be acting on a sense of entitlement aren't either.

    WELL SAID.

I think you speak for many Pearl Jam fans.

    Thank you. :)

I understand what you are saying - there's always a little disappointment when you are hoping for front row (no one on here would say they wouldn't love to have front row - I'd love a pick, tambourine, etc...) Both groups seemed disappointed because they never sit back that far with their usual fan club seats. The 2 guys were ironically near me in line in DC for Pearl Jam & were complaining there also.

  • Having said that I think the senoriy # thing needs to go. Many of us let our fan club memberships lapse in the late 90's when the fan club sucked. (sorry)I have met many fans who this happened to- and where did are old #'s go?
I think anyone who has had a membership for at least 5 years should be equal.

So the people who have paid their dues year after year should just get cast aside because some people decided that the 10C wasn't worth the effort???

Yeah...makes perfect sense...if you are one of the people who said screw it!!!
  • And, of course, there are the times I walk away from the ticket window with my row 9, complaining to my friend - "I can't believe it! We are all the way back in row 9. That sucks!" All of this is said in fun, knowing full well we are spoiled as hell in 10c. But I could see how someone might hear me say that and assume I am walking around with a sense of entitlement. This would be their perspective and another post would be put on here about spoiled fans. I just want to suggest that maybe we would be better off giving people the beneift of doubt a little more. Would save on stomach acid.

yes! thank you for posting this.

like many others, i too have high hopes when picking up my 10c tix and am, depending on the time of the month, slightly or incredibly disappointed when i don't get the coveted seats in the first couple rows. however, my disappointment quickly or not so quickly, depending on the time of the month, wanes once the lights come down.

on the contrary, when i go in KNOWING where i'm sitting, even if it's way up in the gallery -- where i'll be at the auditorium theatre in chicago on thursday -- i couldn't be happier just knowing i'll be graced with eddie's presence again, regardless of the time of the month! :D

well, what I thought was weird (I'm not complaining) was that I got the same row (G) both nights, only a few seats away from eachother.

Again, the show was great and I had an amazing time thanks to 10c and EV, but I just thought it was strange to see randomized seating seat me in almost the same spots both nights.

I got the EXACT same seats two nights in a row.

One night with my 10c seats and the second with a girls seats that I met on this board. Both times Row M... all the way to the side... two seats from the end of the row... against the wall.

    Trippy, huh?

The exact same seats which appeared to be some of the worst 10c seats in the house. I don't think anyone behind me had 10c seats. I was disappointed... but truth be said... the seats were GREAT!! :)

THis is the second post where you said the 10 club spoils members. I sure don't feel spoiled. I pay for something and they provide it. That's it.

Yes, you are right - you pay for it and they provide it. Nothing special, just doing normal business. But I do appreciate 10c fighting for us. I can't remember the exact numbers and when I read this (you might be more familiar with this than I am), but Ticketmaster made it more difficult for fan clubs to provide tickets for the members. Didn't they reduce the number of seats available for fan clubs to about 5% - 8% of the seats in a venue? The ten club fought to keep their number at 10% of the seats, offering more of us a chance to get some awesome seats. Do all bands offer their fans a chance at seats like Pearl Jam does? I really don't know. Maybe it is this ignorance that makes me feel spoiled and special.

But damn it! I still have never had front row seats and I have a relatively good number. Here is to hoping....

    i wholeheartedly agree with you.
    i've seen fans like that.
hell i've SAT with fans like that.

some of us more appreciative fans are just happy to be there.
and what's more, if having 'shitty' seats at a show is your biggest problem, then you've got it pretty fucking good. some people would kill just to have the OPTION of going to a show when they'd like.

I like this suggestion. There are some people that seem to feel entitled to the great seats they get show after show. I get semi-decent seats with my membership, but know I could never see them close unless I got a set in the 4 random rows, which they just started this past tour. If someone has been in the club that long I feel they deserve to have an equal chance at ALL the best seats. Randomize the best seats among those with a determined length of membership, and then randomize the rest of the fan club seats among the rest.

I saw proof of this entitlement when the infamous Grand Rapids "mistake" happened. I thought a member was gonna cry when he mentioned to me that he got tickets on the side which was wrong because he was always fourth row. That turned out to be a great show and great experience for me.

This weekend when I got 3rd row tickets to see Eddie, it was a fantastic experience for me from the moment the show started. Meanwhile some people behind me talked about their 4th row seats like it was no big deal because they regularly get great seats when they see Pearl Jam.

This seniority system that is currently in place has lead to the lull in excitement for the fans up front. Part of what made the 2006 Grand Rapids show so great was Pearl Jam having a bunch of excited fans up front going crazy energizing the band. I've also heard about experiences from other members who got great seats for Eddie solo and the PJ ticket lottery resulting in some amazing experiences.

This system has also lead to some senior members acting like they are better fans than members with less seniority. 10 Club - Please make some changes like these to the ticket distribution or find another way to fix this rift in the Club before you end up with the level of elitism that caused Trent Reznor to disband the Spiral fan club

The third row at the Warner is Row A. Row 1 is AA and Row 2 is BB.

I'm spoiled by the music, the experience, and the people at a concert, simple enough to always enjoy myself, anyone that needs more I pity, cause I feel you'll never get as good as experience as I do.

going to my 6th Ed solo show this Friday night, been 2nd row twice, 5th row for Mike's appearance at Berkeley II, balcony twice, and we'll see where Friday lands me, last row up top, front row, or on the toilet in the venue with diarrhea, I'll be the one will a smile on my face.

here's hoping everyone can enjoy the shows unconditionally, and as much or even more than I do. Who knows if Ed will do it again, though I think he's enjoying himself, so there's a good chance it will.

Yeah...makes perfect sense...if you are one of the people who said screw it!!!

Paid your dues?!?! We're not shareholders of the band, only selfish hardcore fans trying to weasel our way into getting the best seats!
Dues to you are reluctantly and painfully enduring years of paying $10-$20 a year on a membership? now you deserve a reward for all your hard work and dedication, getting the best seats for EVERY single show? That makes no sense and I can't believe this works in getting good tix; what is even more amazing is that so many people passionately believe in this...

Give me a break. Everybody wants to be up front. Most people with high numbers want the lottery so they can sit up front. Most people with low numbers want to keep seniority. To complain that people up front have "low energy" doesn't mean that they don't deserve to be there. They are probably tired from paying their dues for the last 17 years so give them a break.

Its fine to be disappointed with your ticket selection. That is always going to happen whenever anything is random unless you win the jackpot. So relax and stop worrying about other people, it will make you feel better.

I was at DC2 last night & got great seats center orch row L - 12th row). I was so excited to be there in such a small intimate venue. (especially with a 430xxx 10c number. Thanks 10c!)

Anyway, the 2 guys in front of me (row K) got their tickets & figured out they were in row 11. The one guy looks at the other one & says "That sucks" & a girl behind me in line got row G (row 7) & siad she wasn't very happy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!!! How spoiled are you - people wouuld kill for those seats. I will probably never be that close again. The two guys looked bored & even left during the end of the 1st encore.

I am so happy they did random seating (even for PJ - I didn't win the lottery but the people who won looked very happy).

I was just so put off by those who thought they "deserved" better seats. Those of us with higher numbers deserve to be there as much as you do - and we are happy just to be there. If your seats sucked so much, I'm sure someone up in the balcony would've traded with you in a second.

UNREAL!!!! (sorry, just had to vent!)

24 hours after an amazing EV show, and this is what you are thinking about? Maybe you should have just watched and enjoyed a great EV show instead of being nosy? Getting upset about your seats because you were hoping for front row is something EVERYONE who didn't get front row went through! Did they have their 10C number tattooed on their forehead? How do you know these people felt entitled to better seats? Maybe their number is worse than yours, and they were hoping for once to be up front?

How can you judge what kind of time someone is having? Maybe someone they know passed away before the show, and they didn't feel like jumping around like idiots the entire time?
My husband told me they left early, at that point I was up near the stage.
Or they went to buy a poster and watch the end of the show from the back? You just don't know! As you said, it doesn't matter where your seats are as long as you are in the building. So why does it matter if you catch the last song from the near the exit.... or feel the need to run to the stage? You know those people that thinks that the rules don't apply to them, and they can just crowd the aisle at the front of the stage? You must not be happy with your seats if you leave them to go near the stage.
