heard them a few times at age 13 in 1991 and loved it, but didn't get really into them until a few months later in early 92 after I just turned 14 and I got a copy of ten.
About a week before I turned 20, in mid-July 1997. With the Atlantic Ocean's water beading up on me on a sun-splashed afternoon in Ocean City, Md., as I walked to the hotel at which I stayed, I heard "Small Town" on the patio bar.
The words just wouldn't leave my head for days: "Cannot find the candle of thought to light your name."
I had gotten the first four records before then but never quite "got" PJ outside parts of "Ten" early on during my senior year of high school. That July 1997 day somehow made it all click. I had been listening to lots of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, The Doors and Simon and Garfunkel and had recently gotten into Radiohead's "The Bends" and the just-released "OK Computer," so I was in a period of musical evolution.
I'm proud to have gotten into PJ, which I think has set the bar for what bands can be. They've always said "it's about the music," but they've managed to transcend just the music. They've created a following, and it's one I enjoy to be part of.
16..i was still in school..had already heard RHCP, Jane's Addiction and Faith No More..a friend of mine went for a vacation trip to the U.S. and he brought lots of cd's..but in the bag there were 3 that should be noted.."TEN", "BADMOTORFINGER" and "NEVERMIND"...the rest is history.
25 in '92, but yeah, took me 3 years to actually track 'em down and see 'em live. Remember finding Sonic Reducer (which I think now was actually a Christmas vinyl?) on early, early internet -- my First MP3 download!
Well same here, except not quite 2 or 3 years old. maybe 4 or 5. But did you honestly become a huge fan at 2 and continued one since? I think the message starter means when we became huge fans. I've been a fan since 13 and knew about them since i was like 4, but i havent been a huge fan since i was 16 in 2004. im turning 20 this year.

I had this Play-Doh machine that you put play-doh into and it would dispense out whatever shape you wanted it to depending on the pieces used... so I made a stick figure from regular play-doh and used the dispenser to make a bunch of string like play-do and used it as hair for the stick figure, and I called it... I think I was 3. I remember singing Daughter in my aunt's car. Must have been 4 at that time. thanks to my brothers and my aunts and uncles, i always listened to PJ. i'm 19 now.
I was 10 yrs old when I got Ten in '91, similar story to someone else who got it as part of a Columbia House Membership. Must have been one of my first CDs. Yeah, sadly, didn't join 10c until 2004 because living in Minnesota I never made it to any shows. "If I had known then...what I know now"

I was 13 in 1992. I had heard them before and liked them, but I got the TEN album for my 13th birthday and became addicted. I was going through some really bad times and the boys were "there" for me. I've never been able to see them live -- until next month when I go to Hartford!
My daughter will be 4 next month and does a pretty mean RITFW and Even Flow.
