TRoshford wrote:I went to the "private party" at 8pm last night. I just walked in the front door like I belonged there and no one even asked me for ID or anything, there was even a sign on the door that said the place was close due to a private party from 2-9pm.
I walked in, got a few free beers and hot dogs that they had set up, turned around and was 5ft away from John Cusack, Chris Chelios, Ryan Dempster, and Randy Wells. One of Ozzie Guillens sons was there, I personally know him, and he introduced me to all of them. I was in shock. I walked around, looked at all the awesome silent auction items (Eddie Vedder autographed guitar, Kid Rock autographed guitar, tons of sports memorabilia (signed balls, jerseys, sticks), ticket giveaways, and VIP Meet and Greet packages for all sorts of Chicago area sporting events and concerts. It was very well run and organized. I even got outbid for an autographed ARod jersey by Ryan Dempster, millionaires making me look bad!! I thought $400 was a good price too.
There was a great vibe in the air, obviously due to the money being raised for a great cause. There was a band playing and they played a ton of Pearl Jam songs, but I did not see Eddie there at all. I did get there late so there is a chance I missed him, but I would expect if all of his Chicago buddies were there, that he would make an appearance. Not in the least disappointed at all.
I made sure to tip my bartender and waitress generously, as I was there uninvited (shh). The only reason I knew about the event was a co-worker's friend is a manager at the bar and tipped him off, who in turn (due to my Pearl Jam obsession in the office) told me and told me to keep my mouth shut.
I have a few great pics of the auctioned items and some really bad pics of the celebrities, I dont know how to embed them though. i'll happily post a few pics once I figure it out!
I love private parties!!

You lucky dog! My husband and I went there around 9 PM (we didn't know about the "private party", we just like to go there for dinner sometimes), and we couldn't get in. I was like, "Hmmm...wonder what this is about..." then I figured it out. Glad one of us got in!Chicago 2000 : Chicago 2003 : Chicago 2006 : Summerfest 2006 : Lollapalooza 2007 : Chicago 2009 : Noblesville (Indy) 2010 : PJ20 (East Troy) 2011 : Wrigley Field 2013 : Milwaukee (Yield) 2014 : Wrigley Field 20160 -
Well I guess those in attendance tonight should be prepared to sing Happy Birthday to JC!
Also, I've got a good feeling that Ben Harper will be guesting on a song (Indifference!) or two (can Red Mosquito be played acoustic?!) for Night 2! Ben starts his US tour in Chicago on Thursday, so I'm willing to bet he is/will be in town early!0 -

I am getting stupid excited! I've been watching pj and eddie on youtube all day rather than working!
I went to the Detroit show the other night and have been on a high ever since! I'm guilty of the same thing, been on youtube all day watching Eddie and Pearl Jam instead of working like I should be, wish I was coming to Chicago. You guys have fun, it will be an unforgettable night0 -

Thank you!!!
I went to pick up my tickets, and I got to meet Mr. Vedder!!!! Made my week! He walked over and shook peoples hands and took a few pics. I told him "Welcome Home", and I'm surprised even that was able to come out of my mouth!0 -
