You didn't actually get ripped off. If what you say is what happened, he definitely was wrong for saying he would take the ticket and then not taking it. But in the end, he didn't rip you off, he backed out of a deal, there is a difference.

He is out $75. Terminology is wrong, but the result is the same.

I agree. I am not defending the guy, what he did was bullshit and 100% wrong. There is a difference though. He didn't steal anything, he stiffed the guy.

That's just wrong to screw a fellow ten clubber like that especially since you could've easily unloaded the ticket to another fan. The who's this would've really pissed me off, no need to act like a [unnecessary name-calling removed] IMO he needs to man up, apologize and send you the 75.
  • yeah I doubt he is going to but that is my problem with this whole scenairo, I posted last week that I had an extra ticket row k on the board...he said he would buy it and gave me his cell phone #, we texted the day of the show and then he bails on me...obviousily he found a better seat or a cheaper seat and with an hour to the show I was stuck with 2 tickets.

Well, in contract terms, he owes the OP $75. An oral contract is permitted for the sale of an item worth $75, and if he agreed to the price, the OP has every right to expect payment.

And if it was by text - even better. Still... this is the real world, sometimes the scumbags win.
Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.

If you have proof that he agreed to buy the ticket then sue him. No joke. I find it rude. He probably found a better ticket as supply for this show was high. But even if he did find a better seat he shouldn't have stiffed you.

    Not cool.

This is the problem with America, everyone wants to sue for anything.

Back when I went to tons of shows (00 and 03 tours) I was VERY prepared, so I had tickets to almost all shows and often had an extra.

"Tour Kids" would beg me for my extra "to tomorrow nights show" or "fridays show", then stiff me the very next day if they came across better tickets (one time a girl agreed to take my ticket and five minutes later bought one two rows closer in the same exact section at the box office and backed out on my ticket).

My sucess rate for selling tickets you don't have in your hand to 10c members is easily worse than 50% and if I had to guess I am batting about 5 - 20.

Not sure that there is THAT many people going to every show anymore, but if they are I gurantee they will sell almost anyone out for a ticket only a few rows closer to the stage.

He did get ripped-off; the guy that backed-out robbed the seller of his window of opportunity to sell the extra ticket.

Yeh... If he had backed out a day or 2 before then it at least would give the seller an opportunity to sell the ticket to someone else. One hour does not provide this same opportunity so the seller got stiffed...

I've typically asked for half up front, half at the show. that way you know they're serious and not going to flake on you...its worked well for me.

Not sure if it will do any good, can't he just change his screename? Its kinda sad but after reading comments in this thread of people getting burned I highly doubt I would ever offer a extra ticket on this board in the future unless it was a member who is very active on this board.

I've seen the_don in previous threads asking to share pj20 accommodation . A member offer him the floor in his hotel room, he said great. The next post he said he wanted to keep his options open. Another post he was looking for better Alpine tickets. Beware of this guy!!!!
There are way to many good people on this board so stay away from him.

There are on here people that do this, so do what you can to make sure it's not you next time. "Trust but verify" comes to mind as the closest lesson, and in the practical application of it here is to get payment upfront, and until then the ticket is still available for sale. Otherwise you're setting yourself up for a problem.

Protect yourselves as much as you can, because this type of thing is not infrequent on here.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)
