alltho half the " experience" is being there,
i would guess everyone knows soundwise (as well as ambiance )
are definitely impacted by outside / Stadium shows , along with the sheer scale of people in stadium / vs / arenas.

Been to Fenway to see The Boss
as well as Shea , Giants

saw U2 at Yankee Stadium ,

and all many times that in arenas ,..

the shows inside seem to be better overall then those outsiude, IMO .

P.S. Theres nowhere , inside or out , like MSG NYC .

I'm assuming that's the rumoured extra show ..but no idea of the date for it is supposed to be (frankly, I can't see it since Mansfield is not even sold out both days...and when in the schedule would they fit it?)

but if it's Stadium, unless I get 10c tickets..no interest... I just don't do Stadiums...being 100 yards from a stage seeing nothing but 'maybe' ascreen, with overblown crappy sound just isn't my cup of tea.
  • I am guessing the festival is a stadium show? I only ask because i know nothing about it but see thread after thread about it here and it jsut doesnt interst me. I have seen the band all over north america. If i was doing this entire tour I would skip this show. I just dont get it is all.

not saying its bad. Just saying its the last place I would choose to see pearl jam. Tibetan freedom concert in 98 I spent my time heling people and really didnt enjoy it.

  • Let me elaborate furthur I dont get the fuss over a pending show at any stadium and i have 0 interest in a festival featuring sellouttica.
If I was still in my prome and doing almost every show this tour the stadium shows would bot be included.

I know alot of you are going. Have fun hopr its a great show. I am not interested is all.

    Can I elaborate more?
  • OK so its a regular venue? then disregard this entire thread LOLOL

Like I said I havent looked into this

I figured it was some huge festival like woodstock was whenever that horrible abortion was. Maybe this is better.

All the other woodstocks besides the original is what I mean before you guys crucify me

although if i got selected phulliy 2 or msg 2 id take the seats lol

Ok Restless...just to prepare you for what you are about to witness next month.
I was at the last 2 Gorge shows and BOTH MSG shows in 2003. All 4 shows were amazing and magical in their own way...BUT you have not heard loudness and electricity until you've been to the Garden. The roar of the crowd just thunders in that place. Go watch L@TG again and put it to DTE. About a quarter of the way through the song you see Ed go down to his knees and press his hand to the stage then look up at Matty and I believe Stone with a holy shit look on his face. After the song ends and they return from the Encore break Ed talks about how the stage was bumping up and down and how it "scared the fuck out of us."
He said only 3 other acts have had that happen at MSG 1) Grateful Dead 2)Iron Maiden and 3) Bruce Springsteen.
When you think of all the legendary, amazing bands that have played there...thats pretty impressive.

On paper the Gorge shows seem like the better shows considering all the rare shit they've played there but crowd wise and the sheer vibe of the show...they don't hold a candle to MSG. Buckle your seatbelt restlesssoul, you are in for one hell of a ride at MSG next month. Gonna be 2 INCREDIBLE shows.

    Im sure those 3 nights in July of 1973 , ( July 27 , 28 , and 29th )

alltho they might not have had the technology that we have nowadays,

    that place was rocking.

    for sure.
    no doubt.

check out the DVD and it is clear that this place is very special , even driiving down into the bowels of the place.

Oh and I was there for PJ and I was there for every Bruce Springsteen Show at the place,
    it is a gem .

Maybe making a reference to Bonaroo? (Bonzai) Maybe just clueless, doesnt really know what the hell is going on? Maybe taking part of many threads and putting them in a blender and coming up with some random shit?

    Maybe?

I guess East coasters are gonna side with the Garden and west coasters with the Gorge. They are both definitely top venues for different reasons. MSG is better for sporting events than for concerts though. I've seen boxing and hockey there and it was mad. Sound quality for a concert, however, is just like any other indoor arena, although the setup makes it look smaller than it actually is. For an arena, it is amazing, one of the best, and America has the best arenas in the world.

But the gorge is just simply the best place to see a concert anywhere in the world!!! Case closed!

The Gorge is better than Red Rocks?
  • I have never been to the gorge or heard a single song from the shows there.
Hard for me to think its better than the second key arena show from 2000 though.
NYC MSG is Edwards favorite. You can just see it on his face. As I said in a previous post this is why its good. Crowd wise take a listen to Philly spectrum 2003. You cant hear eddie alot of times. Most intense crowd ever. Philly is the best crowds. New york is top 5 probably.
