I don't know why people care about this stuff honestly
If you're a Blue Jays fan, it's still kind of a big deal. When Roberto Alomar goes in this year, he'll be the first player in the Hall wearing a Jays hat. Halladay would be the only other one on the horizon.

I just don't think it's a big deal. schilling played most of his career with the phils. If he gets into the HOF I could care less what hat he wears

some players care....Dawson wanted to go in as a cub, but the hof said, sorry charlie, you are an extint expo
i think players should get to choose, but the HOF is worried about money.
I think at this point it is still "if" he goes into the HoF. But he's getting close.

"If"???? No, I'm sticking with "when". Admittedly he didn't get as much attention whilst he was a Jay, no one looks at a losing team, but Roy has been one of the league's premier pitchers for a decade. So while the team hasn't done so well his personal performance has always been HoF worthy.
Mike McCready makes the energizer bunny look tired.

imo, it's way to early to make the call on the team. i do believe he will be there someday tho.
assuming he sticks around in philly for a decade and continues to put up the numbers AND wins a title or two, i think he would go in as a Phillie.
if he only pitches a few years in Philly, than moves on to anouther team or two, than i would say toronto.

I think the Hall took the decision over when Boggs got a decent contract from the Rays so he would wear their hat in the HOF.
i can see their point in regards to Boggs....maybe it should be the player chooses and the HOF reviews....
Yeah, you can thank Boggs for that. I would HOPE that the player has some input behind the scenes. Would be a shame if it's entirely dictated by the HOF.
Their stats are incredibly similar with Halladay edging him slightly in most categories. Halladay will pitch quite a bit longer than Guidry did though.
Halladay has a while to go to get into the Hall, but the fact that unless the wins discrepancy gets a lot closer it than the current 148 in Toronto to 30 in Philly, he could win the world series the next three years and he'd still go in as a Blue Jay.
A better question is what happens with Randy Johnson:
parts of ten years and 130-74 with Seattle
6 years and 103-49 with a WS ring in Arizona

Which way will the HOF rule there?
Gotta be Seattle.
I forgot to put this in: 1Cy with Seattle and 4 with Arizona.

Still, I think the general rule should be when you think of the player what is the first team that pops into your mind. Seattle is the obvious answer to that question for me.
Wow...great call. Had no idea how close their numbers were. Only significant edge you could give to Halladay would be ERA+ (adjusted to league/ballpark). Really underscores that he probably needs another 3-4 dominant seasons.

I think it's Seattle too, but it's definitely a compelling argument to make him the first Dback. Though those uniforms are awful.

Agreed, I was shocked when I looked up their numbers, almost identical.

Yeah...gotta think Seattle, but it would be hard to argue either one.
Especially if you assume he would have hit at least 7 homers to get him over 500 during the last 54 games baseball missed over the 94 strike and the first 20 games of 95.

In the case if roy halladay - this is doubly so!
Go get a ring roy!!
