The heart removal from The Temple of Doom.. Not really a kids movie, but wasn't it rated PG? I saw it anyhow..

That whole movie! what about the bugs??? I watched it opening night and never have since!

But Fantasia was never meant to be a kids movie. Neither was Wizards. Just because it's animated doesn't mean it is for children ( see Bakshi's other films, like Fritz the Cat). Chernabog from Night on Bald Mountain is one of the most brilliantly animated characters ever - Vlad Tytla was an artistic genius - he had muscular structure down perfect, He also animated Stromboli in Pinocchio.

Heart removal aside, I saw it on rental when I was 10, and it was by far the most memorable movie I've ever seen next to Die Hard and Back to the Future.. When I think back to good movie experiences, Temple of Doom really hit the spot. I remember watching it on a Saturday morning.. Great Saturday morning matinee!

If I'm not mistaken, this movie was the reason for the implementation of the PG-13 rating and I also believe Spielberg himself was one of the people pushing for it. People getting their still beating hearts ripped out of their chests in a PG rated movie finally made them think, "hmm, maybe we should add another category here."

Does Mufasa and Bambi's mom being killed count as traumatizing?

That and the creepy tunnel they go through! That gave me nightmares. And then I became a pot-smoking teenager and loved it.

I used to be scared of the Skecksies in the Dark Crystal, especially that one that kept making that "Hmmmm" sound.
And I know it's not a kid's movie as such but what reeeally effected me was that damn green monster coming out of the toilet on the front of The Ghoulies video, hence I used to flush the toilet and run as fast as I could!:lol::lol::lol:

After my parents let me watch "The End" of Apocalypse Now when I was about 11 years old, nothing scares me. I got desensitized pretty quick.

YES! This traumatized me the most. I think the first time I watched it I was 3 or 4 at my uncle's house and he said when she first came on, I ran out of the room like I was being chased. I'm 20 now and I still can't watch that movie without looking away when she's on screen.

 Funnily, even though I hated her, I still liked witches when I was little and when I was 5 dressed up like one for a fancy dress at preschool etc....so I guess I wasn't too traumatised by her.

ET when he's dying in the forest. I must have seen that scene when I was six or seven, and have NEVER finished watching the movie. To this day, I refuse. Which is really strange to me, since I love Star Wars. Apparently I could take lightsabers and arms getting chopped off, but a wrinkly, little alien dying in a forest made me lose it

Far out I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid (late 80's).
    I forgot about this scene.

For years i thought I had dreamt that whole movie and it was some nightmare I had, til I got older and search the Internet to find it was infact not a dream I had but a real movie. Guess I tried to wipe it from my memory from being traumatized.

I was looking for a photo of wheelers today when I was looking up Wizard of Oz but couldn't find a decent one. I agree....they were creepy and scary!

Do any of you fellow Aussies remember the kids morning show fat cat?
I never saw the final episode but apparently fat cat died and they had a funeral on the show complete with a coffin.

YES! I remember Fat Cat! But no, I don't remember him dying! haha That's not right for kids! lol

I remember watching Fat Cat when I was really little (say 5 or 6). Mum went outside to hang out the clothes and I remember thinking "wtf would I do if mum disappeared out there and I was left home all alone? Oh, I'd just jump into the tv and spend time with Fat Cat and co until dad got home". Weird.

  • The Incredible Hulk show used to scare the crap out of me. Then there was the episode with Kiss in make up. Freaked me out even more.

But the boat scene on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the Wicked Witch of the West on the Wizard of Oz also scared the crap out of me.
