I would have to say Alpine. I have seen Pearl Jam outside at Randall's Island, Hartford, Saratoga, and Camden and sound was never an issue for me. I don't want to say Toronto will just be some regualr show because they are all special, but Alpine is the celebration of 20 years of the group we all adore. I stress to all Pearl Jam fans if you have the means...GO!!

I was all PJ20 until I got shut out on tickets, then I bought Toronto tickets. Then I came to the conclusion that I couldn't miss PJ20. So now I'm doing both! :D

There will be plenty of arena shows to go to next year and after. There will not be another Destination Weekend (the bands name for it is not festival).

Toronto is a beautiful city with lots to do. East Troy is not. PJ has made East Troy the epicenter of its anniversary year. There's a reason and it's not location. Can't wait to find out.

You don't skip the World Series because you can go to 10 mid season games for less and see more cities.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

I was in Berlin twice. Wuhlheide is a great outdoor place for a concert. You cannot compare it to a festival....

Trust me, I totally understand where you're coming from on your feeling that PJ20 is a "festival". Being one who is not particularly fond of festivals myself simply because so many people are coming to see different bands play who maybe aren't the headliner that the vibe/feel of the show often suffers. At least this is what I found at most festival shows I've gone to with the exception of Lollapalooza back in '92.

PJ20 is different though because the major percentage of the audience going (if not all) will be there to see Pearl Jam and not the other bands. Yes, many will want try and catch some of the other acts I'm sure, but everyone's focus will be seeing the headliner so I'm positive the vibe won't be lost once PJ hits the stage.

Because I seriously doubt a die hard Strokes or QOTSA fan would be trying to score tickets for a show like this given the prices.

Alpine. Regardless of what the setlists may be, its a freakin festival to celebrate Pearl Jam.

I'm kinda in the same dilemma. I live near Cleveland so I'm in driving distance to both. I think I'm gonna go Canada just because I'm not a "festival" kinda person. I just hope they have a live webcast of PJ20 so I can see it cuz I don't want to miss out on anything.

I'm doing Toronto driving from Chillicothe Oh. Columbus is about 5 hrs from Buffalo and Buffalo is about 2 hrs from Toronto. Of course the clusterfuck that is the peace bridge will add some time to the journey.

I have family in Buffalo so i'm going up early. If you goto Toronto you will have more options of stuff to do. I'm not a big festival guy and all the expensies of getting to Alpine are what i can not handle. Whatever choice you make you will have great time.
    My butt itches!
