Good to see Ed get Falling Slowly out of the way.

    Now move on to Revelate.

I would also take a blistering version of Stars are Underground!! :D

Seriously I cannot believe I saw them do Falling Slowly tonight - has completely made my year!!!
  • I don't think it's our place to dictate Glen's setlist. Or Ed's for that matter. I'm just gonna be delighted to be there.

Randall - I will be (and have been) deliriously happy with anything Glen plays - just thought it would be fun to dream up a setlist in my head :D
  • It was actually a dig at Hinny! Hinny's an old pal, so it's all good. Actually got to go to Grant Lee Buffalo with him in London, and HE DIDN'T HAVE THE WIG! Best thing Ed did was cut it. Now he don't wanna wear it! In one fell stroke, Ed did what I spent years trying to do-get rid of the terminally uncool wig!!! :D

1 more show mate. That baby's got juice for 1 final fling. Didn't bring it with me to Cork. Got Arcade Fire next week and I don't feel like it either. Which is madness for me since it's outdoors, Hyde Park and all.

    I'm retiring it at Alpine.

After that, I'll just stick to drinking, passing out with a travel pillow. Can't use a wig as a head rest anymore when I'm passed out somewhere.

That's right. I'm gonna rock up to every fucking show with a travel pillow around my neck.

  • For anyone looking for some great solo footage of Glen - I suggest you check this out:

This is a gig Glen played at the Met in NYC a couple of months ago -it's pro shot and is almost an hour long so you get a lot more than the 30 mins Glen has opening for Ed.

I love Glen.. I have seen him open for several different types of shows now, and he always wins over the crowd with his sense of humor and the passion in his performance.
Like he said, what happened while he was on stage last year was so tragic, but it is such a beautiful thing that Eddie reached out to him and led him on the path to all of us Pearl Jam nuts to get to see them playing together.
No time to be void or save up on life, you gotta spend it all.
  • I'm REALLY enjoying reading things like this:

"Of all the memorable moments in Saturday's concert, the one that should go down for the ages was the cover song that earned Hansard a uproarious standing ovation during his 45-minute set: a vein-popping interpretation of Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks"."

So glad Glen is melting faces and blowing minds :D

Astral Weeks is my favorite album of all time and to have heard the lead song from it live was my dream. Glen does such an impressive (though different from Morrison) job on this. I was literally moved to tears.

I was blown away by Glen's performance in Detroit. The only song I had looked up before I went was Astral Weeks on YouTube, so I wasn't completely sure what to expect. But I enjoyed the performance and so did my daughter. Going to be picking up some of his cds for sure.

Glen's version of it was very different than Morrisons. I like Morrison's better, maybe because it's the original and classic version, but was in tears hearing Glen's passion that he play the song with. If you haven't heard Morrison's version, it's worth a listen. Just make sure to burn some incense while you listen :)

Your right about Glen's passion when he plays the song. I recommend to anyone who hasn't heard Glen rendition to check it out on YouTube. The original Morrison version is almost to mellow for me now, after seeing Glens performance. But both are good though :)

Historical note -- this is the show that took place after EV and Glen met for the first time, and Glen sang Sleepless Nights for the record; then raced over, ran onstage, and played one unbelievable show. And all that led to what is happening now....
