Glen played some new songs, the only song he played that wasn't new was 'Leave' from the Swell Season album.

    Huh?

He did three shows in Ireland last week and played only one new song at each show! ("Song of Good Hope"). It would be a lucky crowd that got to hear some new material, not his style to unleash new stuff on crowds like that tho, he's a sucker for the crowd favourites!

Spoke to him last night. He's road testing some new songs, and he did 4 shows here last week, one in Whelans opening for Jake Clemmons where he played 10 new songs.

Expect to hear mostly new songs.
Not sure they're new frames songs which is why they weren't played at the gigs...man, that crowd in the tent in Cork easily would give Ed's talky crowd a run for their money!!

    deBarras was amazin though.

    And Vicar st..naturally.

He is a sucker for crowd pleasing but he's good at it :)

This guy is unbelievable. Was blown away by his performance. Glad I am going to Hartford tomorrow so I can catch him again. His voice kind of reminded me of Marcus Mumford from Mumford and Sons. At least that's what I was thinking when I first heard him. His songs are very good and highly recommend checking him out.

Glen's knockin around in music a little longer than Mumford, chances are that guy sounds like Glen :)
check out Setlist and For the birds and dance the devil...Glens three best records(with his band the frames)

Yes, that's what I meant. Although I hadn't heard of Glen before Eddie announced him on tour which is why I used the comparison the way I did. I definately want to hear more of glen's music, I was very impressed.

Agreed on the voice comparison. The other voice that came to mind for me was Phil Collins.

That he is! I meant it that way! Jake is great, was my first time seeing him perform, hugely impressed with his solos. Very cool to hear about the new material! Vicar street was class, didn't make it down to Cork although I would love to have, could've made some time to see Elton John too! Ah well, can't win em all.

Be exciting to see what he has come up with, I haven't heard any new stuff of his in a year or two (I never bought Strict Joy for some reason!). I'd skin some alive to see Ed & Glen do solo sets on the same stage. Lucky feckers!!

thats quite a compliment to mumford and sons. Glen is one of the finest live singers on the planet. And i dont say that lightly. Genuine genius.

Thanks again! I listened to Set List for the first time about a month ago, and I have been hooked on the Frames ever since! Wish he was doing some of those songs on this tour, but anything he touches turns to gold and he does have some good solo stuff too! So excited to see him in Detroit and at PJDW!

A Frames compilation i put together of really old but kick ass rare as hens teeth songs..all live and a little rough round the edges but still the magic comes through..the ladies at orderinthesound.com are working on downloadable versions..hang tight.

It's like the Frames version of Lost Dogs, but with Van Morrison, the Beatles, Tim Buckley, Will Oldham,

You are more than welcome :D

Just a shame that Glen doesn't get more time - he could bust out some great shit if he got an extra 15 mins!!!
  • eldarion75eldarion75 Posts: 2,488
    I know..and what's the gap between he&ed? 40 mins?

guess they need that time to get Ed's set ready. that's cool.
