He is arguably the greatest DJ/talk radio host in the history of the medium.

He is also a huge PJ fan and posed the question "why isn't EV working out PJ music?".

Rent the movie Private Parts. Very funny and Howard tells great life stories.

Stern has a right to his opinion just like anyone else. Plenty of people will come to Ed's defense on this thread, but I'm not sure it's warranted. I've been a PJ fan throughout the band's history. I loved Eddie's work outside of the band for years. His last two solo releases have left me cold. I don't have a problem with anyone who expresses their love for these albums. I'm genuinely happy for people when they get new music they can enjoy. Unfortunately, some people get their panties in a bunch whenever someone has less than flattering things to say about something they enjoy. It's all opinions and personal taste.

As always you are entitled to your opinion (just as he is).

    I will let him know.

In fairness to him they only played Can't Keep and Dream a Little Dream.

The 2 lower end of the album (in MHO).

Can't Keep on its own as a Uke song isn't as good as the PJ version. But... Who knows... Maybe in 10 years I'll flip.

Peoples tastes are just that, their tastes.

I just knew that there would be a thread about this as soon as heard Howard this morning.

I said that Cant Keep sucked, but kind of liked Dream a little dream. Howard is more of a straight up rock band type of guy. He likes Pearl Jam.

Who cares anyway? Just because we love EV, is it really expected that outsiders will even understand putting out a Uke album....let alone like it.

Howard is still f'ing hilarious after all of these years. Big deal that he doesnt like Uke Songs.

    Agreed

I love Howard and enjoy him as he has matured for 16 years now (since I started listening off and on).

  • Howard Stern, much like Ukelele Songs, is not for everyone. Some consider listening to Stern torture. He is however in a position to offer his critique to a huge audience, while most of us are not. Some will agree, some will hate him for it. Like anything else, take it with a grain of salt, and remember that one person's garbage is another's treasure. That's just how life is.

Did anybody record it? Would love to hear it this afternoon, if possible.

    this ^

i don't listen to him much, except for odd interviews etc. but I think he can be funny, as well as a bit of an a-hole.
his opinion is valid but we don't have to agree with it, cool that he's a pj fan, i didn't know that

He's the original "shock" jock DJ. You don't get to be where he's at without ruffling a few feathers along the way. He learned a long time ago that whether you love him or hate him, as long as you were talking about him he was doing his job. And that's why he's around and still relevant today, because even the people that hate him listen to him almost religiously so they can have something to bitch about!

For me I don't mind him but I don't ever really listen or pay attention to him anymore since he moved over to satellite radio.

Howard is a huge pearl jam fan. His favorite song believe it or not is glorified g. He's definitely entitled to his own opinion but unfortunately millions of people listen to him and take his advice. I see medicated pete walking around red bank all the time! lol

    I ignore him...
I tried him and didn't like him
he's made his money by being an ass at the expense of other people's feelings.

    Not someone I would admire
but maybe he'll host AI and we'll get a whole new look at what a caring person he really is,
    that would be about time.

I dont know the guy but I do agree that Ukelele Songs is torture. For me it is anyway but I wont lose sleep over it.

Most of my favourite artists have put out an album I dont like so no harm done. If you like it then enjoy and fill your boots, if you dont then find something else to listen to.

It took guts for Eddie Vedder to release this album. Is anyone shocked about some of the responses out there in the media or some of the fan base? This a rock star releasing a solo album with just him and a ukulule. He was going to get some bad reviews and some opinions that he was being self-indulgent. In the end Ed did what he wanted to do and probably had some trust in his fan base that they would know what the album is about.

    I respectively disagree with Howard

But to talk shit about him cause he doesn't agree isn't right

You have to be in the right frame of mind to enjoy uke songs. Some days I could listen, some days I could care less

I can see people having differing opinions here. I do like both Ukulele songs and Water on the Road. Saying that, the more I listened or watched it seemed a little self righteous to me. Ed, we know you're awesome, and you'd probably sound awesome playing the spoons,... but I think Pearl Jam is where you shine. To me anyway.

So, like one poster said before,.. we don't usually love every album or song by our fav artists,.. that's Howard's opinion. nuff said.

My hubby said Ukulele Songs is so depressing it makes him want to commit suicide, lol! But I love sad songs...sad movies, sad books...so this album is perfect, for me. In fact, it's almost romantic in a way... I can understand that not everyone would love it. But I do :)
