Just wondering if many of you caught Chris Cornell's Songbook acoustic tour, and if so what you thought of it??
He has just announced that he'll be playing NZ in October and I am pretty keen to go (if I could only find someone to come with me).

Saw him in D.C., from about thirty feet away. He sounded great, and it was super cool being that close and in a room that small.

It exceeded my every expectation. He sounded great and played a long, diverse set.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

Looks like I'll be going then. Now to find someone to come with me...
He is playing here right in the middle of the Rugby World Cup so accomodation will be hard to find and expensive, I'll probably just drive down and back, only 2 hours away.

  • I saw him Night 2 in Los Angeles. It was unbelievable, one of the best live vocal performances I have ever seen.

I saw him here in Victoria. 'Twas an amazing show. Took the hubby who really had no idea who Chris was, and all he kept saying was, "He sings this?!?" He was pleasantly surprised at how many songs he recognised. Not quite sure if he'll feel the same way at Soundgarden in July :?:mrgreen:

Anyways, if you can swing it, then definitely go. CC is sounding great and the intimate nature of the show is just breathtaking.

I also saw him in DC, probably one of the best vocal performances I've ever seen in concert. No bullshit, his voice is on fire right now, the concert was pretty much flawless....just wish he would have played Mind Riot that night 8-) . A few vids from the DC show...you be the judge...

I was in Dallas at the HOB. Great performances by Chris and William Elliot Whitmore. The sound there was terrible, though.

His voice was on fire! Saw him at the Music Box at the Borgata in Atlantic City. He sounded amazing! Preferred Eddie solo....Cornell didn't have much interaction with the crowd...but I enjoyed every minute of it.

GO! It's a really fun show, if you know any of his solo catalog, that's a plus -- but just Audioslave/Soundgarden/TOTD songs make this a MUST SEE! Not to mention all the freakin covers he can drop.

Here's my review of his SF show at the Fillmore:

But a very different vibe from Eddie shows. Cornell solo is like hanging around the keg in the backyard partying and hearing that dude over there entertain us. Eddie is more the late night living room and beanbag chairs, lava lamps aglow, recovering from the kegger as we pass the bong around!

Living in NZ I don't have the luxury of seeing my favourite artists live - I've seen PJ once in 09, RHCP once in 02 and thats it! Never seen Eddie solo, so as soon as I heard about Chris coming here I did everything I could to nab some tickets!!!
